Think legrath did one recently, ill see if i can find it but hes normally on here all day so will beat me to it.

And while you've got them apart, why not spray the lens bezel with chrome paint (available from Halfords, by Plasticote), and also the reflector backs (as they are white normally), and then yopu could apply black pin striping to the inside of the lens to give it that proper 99 spec look!

Just a thought. :D

im on this job at the mo too!!!

im stumbling along, so far take out boot trim - couple of phillips screws and a 10mm bolt to get to the light from the inside. theres then 4 or 5, 8mm nuts holding the light in place. undo these and prise light away cos its got loads of black gungy stuff (technical term :slap: ) holding it on.

then take out bulbs.

thats as far as i got last night (work always gets in the way!), although looks like the unit itself is sealed and the seal will need warming to unpop. theres about half a dozen clips round the edges, and the sealant runs where these are.

gonna hav a butchers with a paint heater gun to get em off tonight and ill let you know.

Check out this thread for the info on the kit. As for the cracked lens, no you can't get it separatley, you'll have to buy a replacement lamp unit, have a look round the for sale section, or see some of traders.

Instructions for adding clear lenses to your tail lights

Step 1

The first thing you want to do after you have removed your tail light is remember to remove the screw in the back of the taillight.

Tools

Heat gun, some vice clamps, some flat heat screw drivers, wd-40 (or Goo Gone)

Step 2

Next use a heat gun to heat up the glue around the edges of the faceplate. You can use a screw driver to pry it open. Heat the bottom and the sides first. Once you have done that and have gotten that open, heat the top and remove the entire cover. You can just do the bottom and sides without the top and still slip the clear lens in, but I’d rather do it the right way and look good, rather than risk breaking it (Trust me - I have).

Step 3

Remove the faceplate

Step 4

There is another plate on the inside that separates the two lenses. You will have to break a few pieces of plastic from the corners so the clear reflector will fit. Flip it over and look on the corners. Break them off and then remove the orange lens

Step 5

Put the clear lens in –move it around to make it fit.

Step 6

Now heat the edges of the faceplate and anywhere that has glue and close it up using clamps. The heat will soften the glue ensure the ease of closing it.

Step 7

Now use some Goo Gone (My preference) or wd-40 to clean it off.

hope this helps you mate, did mine couple of weeks back, look very good for the money! gaz300zx :xxx:

hi Paul you can send off for the conversion kit from a place in the US like i did (the link is on one of the lads replies) or what I now recommend is to use this link http://aus300zx.neuralmotion.com.au...t/taillight.htm

the reason i say this is because the kit they send is just a piece of perspex so it will save you alot of cash, bit of a bugger to fit though ;)
