I was listening to Radio Wales this afternoon and I heard there's a big meeting taking place tonight between Farmers, Hauliers and the likes to discuss action regarding rising fuel prices and taxation. I thought about this for a while and realised that their timing couldn't be better, if the Government don't back down this time then they'll lose the General Erection. :D They sounded really determined this time and said they would "Do what they do in France". The radio interviewer said "But don't you think you'll be very unpopular" to which the farmer replied "Why? everyone is against rising fuel costs". Let's hope it does happen but this time I hope they don't listen to made up stories about the emergency services being crippled - what a load of shite.

Are we going to have a petrol shortage like last time?

If so I'll put a load of petrol in takeaway boxes and stash them under the bed like last time. It may have smelled but I had lots of petrol.

Monster Raving Loony Party anyone ??? :D

If they still exist ???

As Billy Connolly said:

You shouldnt vote for them, it only encourages them !!!! ;)

Alan..........

Speaking of farmers,

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1579491,00.html

Brynle Williams, the farmer and haulier who led the stand-off at the Stanlow refinery in Cheshire that triggered the protests in 2000, is now a Conservative member of the Welsh Assembly. He has refused to support unlawful blockades.

and THAT sums up the tories in a nutshell, the farmers hated him, the hauliers hated him, memebrs of his own family hated him, and they all thought he was a prick so what does he do?? becomes a tory :xxx:

Yeah farmers also leave loads of mud spreading out onto the road from their gates.

And they drive tractors on narrow lanes at 2mph. and they try and stop walkers and trail riders from using legitamate rights of way. and they are constantly baled out by the government unlike every other profession that goes down the pan.

Send them all to live in Wales thats what I say...

'He has refused to support unlawful blockades but hopes to act as a broker in new negotiations with ministers'.

Dont twist the facts guys!! Why leave out the last few words of that sentence?

LOL

Dear oh dear billynomates! And if he was a Labour man he'd now be a hero, right?

LOL

?? why would that be, a prick is a prick red white or blue, the most important thing is he won't support a blockade, something he helped start last time

then caved in after a week, not a coincidence his family were not best pleased with him that it had cost them over £10,000 in the family business

i make no secret i hate the tories, but if there was a sensible alternative to what we had now, id be the first voting, labour has its fair share of pricks, but

i for one don't intend to bend over to receive another good shafting by the tories

He cant now be seen to be involved with anything unlawfull, that's why he can only show support as a broker.

Obviously you're unaware of the damage done to British industry under Baroness Thatcher.

Yep and rover have done great under Blair!!

Well lets hope they don't lose the general election cos if Michael Howard gets in then we're all fokked!

Ok lets vote for Blair so we can have higher income tax ( which WILL happen FACT) and so he can waste even more billions helping the USA invade the next country on its list.

Blair lied over the iraq war... he should have resigned.. everyone told him it was wrong but he did what HE wanted and stuck 2 fingers up to everyone else.. you can not trust him!!!!

Everyones always moaning about howunder the tories the rich get richer and the poor get poorer... a slight observation on my part indicates that most people here have a 300zx and thefore can not be classed as poor. OK we may all not be loaded but we are by no means poor.

Under labour if you sit on your ass you will reap loads of cash in the benefits while the worker who earns his cash get penalised more and more..

Taking from the rich to feed the poor?? thats communism isnt it????

Under the torys the poor get poorer cos the get there benefits cut and have to get off their arses and find a job.

Rover is a microcosm of what was British industry, remember that Rover was bought cheap when John Major was PM by BMW back in 1993 after being bought by BAe in 1988:-

"BAe bought Rover from the U.K. government in 1988 for $222 million in a heavily subsidized sale. BAe promised not to sell Rover before September 1993. The sale was widely seen as a government ploy to get the company off its books without drawing political criticism for selling Rover to a foreign group. BAe had not been expected to keep Rover for the long term."

Who was Prime Minister in 1988?

Margaret F-ing Thatcher, sorry but I can't defend these people especially someone who needlessly ordered the sinking of the Belgrano in the Falklands war to raise her profile for the '83 election:-

"The Belgrano sinking was the most controversial event of the Falklands War. Many people, both inside and outside the British Parliament said it was an unnecessary use of force - the ship was outside the exclusion zone and apparently sailing away from the Falklands."

PMSL at least she had the balls to invade the Falklands..what would blair have done? he would have probably invited the argie president over for a cup of tea.. told him he can keep the Falklands and we'll give you all the cash you need to run it!!!

I doubt Thatcher needed to up her profile, first, the country was behind her for invading ( unlike blair and iraq) and secondly she was respected for her handling of the Iranian embassy siege.. no other prime minitster did more to point out to the terrorists that this country would not be held to ransom.

If people want to harp on back to how crap it was under the tories.. lets go back further to when Labour were in before that and income tax was 50% for everyone, not just the rich. They have already said if Labour get in income tax WILL rise, same old Labour.

So dont keep going on about the past, do you still blame Graham Taylor for England having a mediocre football team today??? I doubt it, you blame Sven, the country is crap today because of Blair, he's had long enough to sort it and he's lied and failed, time to give him a wake up call and get rid!!

And another think, if you want to talk dirty tricks with the sinking of the Belgrano.. what about that Dr David Kelly geezer who was the expert on WMD who allegedly killed himself over the war???

There is no way on this searth that he killed himself!!!!! He was (alegedley)done away with to save Blairs skin?

Or is it just me that thought the whole think stank to high hell?

umm no its just you lol, your actually beginning to sound like a politician now yourself, in this thread you blame blair for rover, in another part of this forum

you said ROVERS MAKE SHITE CARS, AND THE FACT THEY HAVE GONE UNDER IS THEIR OWN FAULT, and i think most people agree with you on that

??they have already said taxes will rise, who is they?? if you mean labour they have actually said the opposite, and said "the basic rate of income tax will NOT rise" or do you mean the tories have said labour will increase taxes??

whoever gets in there will be some tax rises somewhere, to pay for all the crap they have promised in this election, if the tories had not got michael howard in charge i think they would be a serious alternative to labour, the fact that he was the main man behind the poll tax send shivers down the nation, funny how you have brought football into this because MOST people have their own opinions about which party they support, and like the team they support your not going to change it.

I look in my drive and see 3 cars and a lot of people on this forum are running 2/3 cars, and thats a way of life i never remember under the tories, yes theres loads i don't like about labour, same way theres loads i don't like about the team i support, but i have to believe they are gonna get it right,

and one last thought david kelly broke the official secrets act end of, his wife blamed the media, and i wish i was under stress earning over £60,000 a year

The basic rate of income tax wont rise under Labour, but the overall tax burden will.. again!

They're sneaky bstads, have any self employed among us noticed how they cut class 2 national insurance contributions to £26 per quarter, but then raised class 4 NICS to 8% of your total profit, effectively making the basic income tax rate now 30%. So they didnt raise income tax but it's gone up to 30% , clever.. sneaky.

To be honest, even if Labour lowered the tax burden by 50% I could never vote for them, I just cant stand their bureacracy and waste and civil servant jobs created just to make more regulations and nanny legislation. Are there any civil servants that dont vote Labour?

BTW, the poll tax was the fairest system we have ever seen, each person paying their own way. unfortunately labour councils were allowed to set the amount to be paid and took advantage of that.

as i said above m8 we will never agree but unlike you who wouldnt vote labour WHATEVER they did, if i honestly thought a party was going to improve the things i had issues about i would vote for them, but under tories we had high interest rates, repossessions, negative equity, high unemployment, pitiful pubic services, disgusting waiting list in the nhs etc etc, and so far ive heard nothing to say we won't be going back there

not sure how you reckon poll tax was fair, when i would be paying the same as david beckham, and the tax itself cost 1.5 billion to administer, and hundreds of thousands of people couldn't afford to pay it, any tax is going to be unpopular, and lets not forget council tax is set by the local council (some tories) not the goverment, I THINK at the end of the poll tax there was an estimated

18 million non-payers, or was that the unemployment figures under the tories lol

Hmm, should I mention joining the ERM?

Maybe not LOL!

If I thought there was a single party out there which would do everything right then they'd have my full support. My point is that you just have to go with whoever you believe to be best and for me, it's not the Tories, maybe some day it will be. We're a democratic society and the Poll tax went down with the majority like a lead balloon and for once the British public protested and won.

well, I know who I am going to vote for ... And it isn't any of these pricks on offer .... load of ****ers .. all the same shit ...

Cheers bro, you saved me writing a long reply Lol.

Obviously some people are too young to remember how sh!t life was for the majority when the tories were in power unless you were very rich + selfish that is.

It really p!sses me off that people are still wingeing about us going to war with Iraq. FFS, do you think that any other party would have done anything different?

What people seem to forget is that Sadam Hussein wouldn't let the UN weapons inspectors into Iraq, why?!! Also, we knew that he had the tools to build weapons of mass destruction because he aquired lots of it from us and the Americans! Remember the 'Arms to Iraq scandal'? that was a tory trick FFS!

Anyway, the Intelligence information suggested that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, so how can you blame a labour government for that? It was the Intelligence that was wrong!

What were we supposed to do? just wait to see whether he bombed the shit out of us or some neighbouring country that pissed him off? I don't know about you but I sleep easier in my bed knowing that Sadam is now behind bars.

Cheers bro, you saved me writing a long reply Lol.

True, things were bad then too. The trade unions had too much power. Thatcher put a stop to that, the only good thing that she did for the country!

If I was a multi milionaire, I still wouldn't vote for the Tories. I don't agree with their look after number 1 and fook everyone else outlook.

I think one of the best things she done for this country was to give the people that live in council houses the right to buy,It gave the poor chance to get on the ladder however.........................

No matter how long this thread got and how many points were made along the way I could NEVER vote Labour to save my ****in life lol

I worked pretty hard for what I have to date, including buying my houses at the right price and making me £££££££££££££££££ and all I want to to is keep it for myself and not share it with the lazy *******s of this country that are too ****in bone idle to do it for them selves.
