The words "cheap" and "brakes" do not go together my friend! I was on a budget for mine so went 3G 10 groove & dimpled discs and Porterfield pads, master cyl brace, braided lines and DECENT fluid. That will do me until I go BIG brakes.

budget wouldnt normally be a problem but am saving for a deposit for a house ourlass says sell the car it costs to much so will soon be looking for a new girlfreind lol

ALL girlfriends/wives say sell the car, why is that? If you find one that says keep it if you like it, then I would hang on to that one.

My Z has outlasted 3 girlfriends so far.......

My lady says keep it. She even has let me keep it in the garage over hers when I move up ... Damn right I am going to hang on to her, she is 1 in a million!!

Answering the post now. Zed brakes aren't bad, as long as the calipers are working correctly they are fine. 3G brakes are good. I have some and have been very happy with them. Get some decent pads as well and some good fluid and no worries.

have cleaned caliper pistons twice already on front as only two of them were working have heard of people using skyline gtr brakes do the calipers fit straight on and do they use zed discs or skyline discs and yes the brakes are fine but when working but am slowly increasing the power of my zed so thought no good going fast if i cant slow down

It is good to upgrade the brakes mate. Most people go for the Skylark brake set up. Depends on how much power you are going for. I'm running 1 bar and I can stop OK at the mo. Skyline upgrade can be quite expensive. I am happy with my set up for the moment though.

As far as I can remember the skyline calipers fit straight on, but you have to be aware of the clearance for the alloys. They are big buggers, and you will need the disks as well. Sorry I can't be more help .. sure someone who has upgraded will tell you the ins and outs though.

im just going for the usual power mods at the moment filter, decatt, chip, boost jets and controller if i get standard brakes working 100% do u think they will be good enough with decent discs and pads all help is good so dont worry about how limited it is thanx

As long as the calipers are working correctly, then I don't see why decent disks uprated pads wont be fine. By the way, if you are having a boost controller fitted, you don't need boost jets. I would recommend a boost controller, not boost jets (some will say otherwise) and FFS make sure you get a good boost gauge fitted if you up the boost either way.
