fellas,

when reffiting the cambelt how accurate do the match marks line up??

i fitted the belt and all the lines match up on the sprockets with the belt but on the rear of the belt cover, the dots seem about a few milimeters out, i know its nothing but i should check with you first as it could turn out to be an expensive mistake LOL!!!

Hi Dewi when i did mine i had the same probs got it eventualy though, one pully was always a coule of mill out,get it lined up as close as poss and give the crank one revolution and see how it lines up then.

The marks are just for a guide ;) the real ones that need to line up is the ones on the belt with the ones on the gears. :)

I had to ask exactly the same when i did mine... looks worrying but as Mat says it's just the ones on the gears that matter :)

Is there not somewhere in the manual the amount of teeth between each mark on each cam gear or am i talking mince again.

I'll look and post again if there is.

It states 24 cogs (teeth i'd call them)between each cam gear on the lh/rh bank of cylinders. Between each inside cam (lh inside and rh inside) it states 45 cogs.

So if that sounds confusing, from the lh most outer cam count 24 teeth till the lh inner cam on that bank....then 45 teeth from inside lh cam to the inside rh cam....then 24 teeth again to the rh outer cam.

All this is from a genuine Nissan manual, not a timing belt book.

Hope this helps.

Cheers John Crisp
