Nissan Dealers are not the only ones

I contacted my warranty company about my knackered heater matrix and they won't pay Nissan Dealer prices but the dealer I bought the car from have a special rate with the Honda Main Dealer down the road. I took my car down there this morning and they phoned back an hour later saying one of the hoses under the engine has also split (fair enough I thought) and they can't check the heater matrix without full pressure in the system so the hose will have to be fixed first. I said surely you can take the dash off and look at the heater matrix as it must be fairly obvious if its broken as its dumped several litres of water into my car, not just a few drips. No, they cannot tell if the heater matrix is at fault without getting the pressure up (ie they do not want to go to the effort of taking the dash off, they want to see the water pissing into the car for themselves as they don't believe me).

Anyway, the funny bit came when they said that the hose had to be replaced first, and they recommended that I take it to a Nissan Dealer as it was "beyond their mechanics" and that Nissan Dealers would have the correct tools. FFS how many tools do you need to replace a radiator hose? Am I missing something here?

Bear in mind that I have just found out that this is the same garage that told me that my power steering fluid was at the maximum level on the window when my HICAS light was on (no, that'll be the brake fluid guys - I topped it up myself in the end) and couldn't diagnose my misfire (PTU). This I could possibly understand but they hadn't even narrowed it down to which cylinder. Muppets!

I did that myself in the end after reading this forum.

Its a sorry state when all garages can do these days is replace random parts following instruction sheets until the problem is fixed/customer gets so fed up they do it themselves. If it wasn't under warranty I'd do it myself but I need the warranty company to cough up the 250 squid for the heater matrix.

Had to get that off my chest. Feel better now. I'll take the blue pill today

Oh mate, I could tell them that the heater matrix will be Phuket!!!

When I broke down in mine I rang the yellow erics and told them not to bother sending a patrolman out and just bring a low loader as I knew what had gone and it wasn't worth them second diagnosing it wink.gif

Arriva Nelson in Peterborough did mine, my warranty company stumped up for the part and paid a percentage of the labour with it being Mandella etc. Which was great!

Kick arse Dyl wink.gif

Where did you get your waranty for your cars? Did you get it when you bought the car or did you get it yourself? If so who with and how much was it?

Stuart

Is it possible we could pay £200 quid to a warrranty firm and they would pay the Nelson repair cost

Colud be worth it....for engine failure etc..even turbos..auto box.....???

Probably not...

I had a warranty with North West Warranties and when my Power steering pump dumped its guts on the A580, they stumped up every penny and it was repaired in full by Middlehurst Nissan. No probs. Very painless experience!

I'm with WH Holdings and they so far have been very good. Providing the car is regularly serviced I can get away with unlimited claims of up to £1000 each. All for the princely sum of £200 when I purchased my Zed or £15 a month subsequently. Plus, if you don't need them in a year, they review your monthly payments and they go down accordingly.

GO DOWN ACCORDINGLY?

Do you have to pay extra for that or was it an introductory bonus?

lol - Sorry, I couldn't resist.

oh my...sorry! Should read through what I type with a Y mind, instead of an X mind!

For the benefit of Cos "...they adjust your payments accordingly".

And yes, you do have to pay that little bit extra, but it's all in the name of customer satisfaction, you know biggrin.gif

My god.. the whole forum has sex on the brain today!

I blame our newest female member entirely wink.gif

Ajay, can you tell me more or give me a web site to look at. Does this mean you have to get it serviced at a Nissan Garage every 6000 miles, or any garage? Will they not accept yourself servicing it?

Stuart

Morning Stuart.

Knew that I should have found 10 minutes to log on over the weekend! I don't have any details with me about my warranty company, but I can ring home and get them for you this afternoon.

The servicing needs to be done yearly by any garage, it does not have to be Nissan. They just need to see the stamp of the garage on the paperwork, I believe. (Don't quote me on this as I personally haven't serviced my car so not sure about their stance on it).

What I'll do is stop writing this and post more details when I get them this afternoon. smile.gif
