Scores on the doors, Miss Ford (or should that be Nissan!)

From the dyno session today mine were approximately :-

312 bhp at 6300rpm

352 ft/lb at 3650rpm

And pretty pleased about it I am too !

Anyone else care to add theirs ?

Hi Andy, yep saw that good ponys smile.gif

I was:-

262 bhp at the wheels

253 lbft @ 4500 rpm

Expected for a stock manual.

But as seen by all in the room im way way

over the co (unburnt fuel) level.

He said "is it chipped" (no)! as chequed 1/2 hour ago. " can you up the boost for me" (no)

Now i need some advise! it was owned by MK performance (now bust) 3 years ago. They did some work on the car but took it off, alegedly when it was sold.....Bigger injectors (maybe???) has been a suggestion!

Or am i just lucky enough to put in the welding tip trick to try & keep up with the fuel flow. And what is a good starting size 1.0 - 0.8 ? let me know. Engines & tubs done only 28k. Or is there somthing else i should look at to decrease fuel input.

Pukka day Warren Cheers mate smile.gif & good to see you all in a very big attendance smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Much learnt - much laughs - nice bar maid!!!

Harve.

ps. & i know my no plate is pushing it but it suit the car wink.gif

Hope you all enjoyed the day and good effort to WaZZa for setting it all up...REZPECT! wink.gif

271bhp at the wheels

274 ftlb of torque at 4500

stock just air filter upgrade. well happy.

Thats cos you took uot the seats to make it lighter wink.gif

How did things go with the magazine guys from jap performance, smithy

This may sound like a silly question, but what is the expected transmission loss for a manual gearbox, somebody told me approx 20%, but looking at the above HP figures (260-270) it's got to be a lot less.

Can anybody shed any light on this question???

Many thanks

The guy operating the dyno said about 10% for a manual. An auto will definitely be more than that though.

firstly an excellent day and many thanks to Warren for organising smile.gif it was good to meet so many peeps.

my figures:

251 bhp @ 6000rpm

239 ft/lb @ 5000rpm

totally bog standard, i think i'm happy wink.gif

He he he i heard some very funny stories about some cars after the dynoday.

Some dogy stuff going on out there.hmmmm

What the f??k happened to my zed 8 months of trouble free motoring (except water pump change) spec JWT Chip, boost jets 12+psi K&N intake, exhaust, timing dead on new plugs new oil octane booster and RESULT

crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap

245.3 bhp at the wheels at 4000 rpm !!!!

ok got 322.1 ft.lb torque at 4500rmp but the graph has big big dip in it.

Spoke to Andy and others and the operator who incedently was about as helpful as a chocolate fire guard! seems he forgot to have the auto box holding in 3rd and the dips are it changing gear what an arse, to say I am pissed off is an under F???ing satement the shutting of the roller shutter was an absolute disaster to the later guys as any similarity in test conditions were lost, the cooling fan in use was moving something like 150 cu ft of air a minute with the door open and about 1/3 of that when shut as witnessed by standing by the opening to the ajoining room it was trying to suck you in.

Yes I know if I had a 400Bhp figure I would not be moaning and yes I know that the amount paid was a small amount compared to a normal one to one test but the operator was an arse he even said the car was only running 7 to 8 psi boost when I questioned him as to how he knew this he said he looked at my Blitz pod gauge! Its not even F???ing calibrated in PSI glasses!! the guy needs a labotomy!

I can only appologises to you guys for venting my frustration on you but some times it has to be done.

First thing Monday morning I am arranging a one to one to at another RR to sort it out as I am really not happy that the mods I have done are supposed to give xxx power and have not resulted in that according to Mr chocolate fire guards measurements we will see if he is an arse or my cars a shed.

Jeff TT

Ps I sent my car to bed with out any tea last night for been so naughty

So Jeff your Zed was tested in D with overdrive on then?

Interested cos I maybe book a RR tuneup with this place http://home.clara.net/hensteadmsport/home/home.html in suffolk some time next week.

Trev

Just by way of reference, according to Ray Hutton's book the standard European TT has 280ps @ 6,400 rpm and 275 lb/ft @ 3,400 rpm.

  • Author

Mine appears to have been tested in 3rd with overdrive off. I would guess that the chap who did it didn't known what the hold option does.

Thanks for that Trey wiil check out them tommorrow. Jeff

Hmmmmmmm can i ask why you did not question him there and then on the spot.

I supsect he may have answered your questions.

The temperature was a constant 70 f inside the entire day, as i questioned him about that.

Besides if 15 out of 16 cars run to withing what they thaught, maby just maby they were correct.

I spoke to thee guys about octane boost and they said it can have adverse effects, ie have heard octane boost can lower octane if mixed with optimax. ???

no smoke without fire.

superguy.jpg BUFF MAN 300ZX SUPER HERO!!!! or is that DUFFMAN????

Thats the whole point it I did ask him and it was like he could`nt be bothered to give me a plausable reply, I even mentioned about the auto issue and not been held in 3rd gear as that is clearly obvious from the two yes two gear changes that occured on the power run, my peak Bhp seems to of been in 2nd bloody gear and by the time it got in to third and four the time/revs where running off the scale personally I think the run was flawed and would have expected the guy to been man enough to admit it but oh no,funny how his Italian accent suddenly got completely uncoherent after I tried to get an answer, arse arse arse arse that my view!

Jeff TT

I will certainly bring it up with him tomorrow and i think you are talkign about the wrong guy.The person you should have spoken to was domingoes the nice south african bloke.

By the way Wynns octane boost = £4.50 serious waste of money.(just for future referance)

And no offence intended.

Papa Z,

Jeff, sorry to hear all this matey, I think you got a bad run by the sound of things! ARSE!

Don't sweat it mate, your car looks the bollox and I'm pretty sure that it puts out a mean BHP fella!!! wink.gif

To all, whole point of taking your car on a flymo is not just to get a bhp reading...they are supposed to aid you in tuning the car to get the best output and in most cases a safe BHP figure!

Check out the Aus 300 site, AndyP posted the thread a while back. Some guy takes his car in and it's running rich/lean(can't remember off the top of my head) but they do a few runs, tweak the A/F mixture and he gains about 40/50 bhp just in messin' with the mixture alone.

One off runs are not, I repeat NOT, an accurate gauge of what your cars are capable of on a constant basis!

IMHO
