how hard is it to change an auto box to manual my auto is about to give up the ghost and i need some options has anyone got any info about how to do it aswell

I think a few well respected traders will do it for £1500, all included, drive in drive out.

definately not for the DIY amateur - I left it with a garage for a week.

my brother is a mechanic he would do it.............but i dont know if i should do it mines chipped and had a hks alc put on im thinking of a recon box or has any one out there got a uk box must be good any ideas

an auto chip is fine to use in a manwell - it's the other way around that doesnt work.

 

you should get £140 easy for the ALC (if it's a series 2) - its simply a box that needs unplugging and the original autobox ecu connectors put back in their place. keep the ribbon leads that come from it tho :)

what about the turbos everyone says they are smaller on autos is this correct as nissan only supply one type of turbo

yes i believe they're smaller on autos but since my conversion its not really made much difference. (smaller ones spool up faster tho but like i said no noticeable difference)

its a jap box. 'box is in perfect working order, solid smooth gearchanges at the correct shift points. was driven and checked over by duffer before the car was stripped. its done just under 70k miles. had the bigger oil cooler fitted to it since 2000. £350 for the box and torque convertor, must be collected from preston
