 Just got the car back from being de-catted, 0-100 comes up so quickly now!! Although a tiny bit gutted cos exhaust note hasn't really changed, no louder

I'm probably answering my own question now but is the only way to make it sound sportier to fit the Mong oose system or similar?? Having had a GTi-R

I do miss the manic exhaust note on full throttle, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated from such a learned group of enthusiasts (arse lick over) :p :p

Thanks,

Chris

Gooses arent that loud, if its loud you want then its a Jap zaust

I had mine decatted the other week. Makes a nice improvement to Spool up and response. It also altered the exhaust note, to make it slightly deeper...but I already had a Cat-back system and that is where the most sound difference comes from.

Thanks peeps, so HKS or similar would give it the sound i'm after??

The goose is a really cool zaust but is basically an upgrade of the stock system to stainless. The Jap zausts give a much lower tone to them.

Just wait, after 600 miles the noise does get more bass and louder, im decatted and goose and at first was unpset how quiet it was, but its singing away now!!!

i had mine de-catted a couple of years ago, i brought a blitz exhaust its sounds great, you get a really good loud deep note to it. the best bit is cause of how deep it is it tends to set off alot of car alarms

I'll give a bit then, if no louder might go for a longlife custom built, isn't a single exit meant to sound the dogs??

Cheers,

Chris :p

it was form a company on the web that i found and they had it brought over from japan for me. i will look through my car stuff when i get chance later to see if i can find the address for you if you want, but its been a couple of years now. its a twin 4.5" inch exhaust made by blitz (so it aint cheap) and with the shipping costs it was roughly £1200. Oh yeah and its not even stainless steel which i found out when it arrived but ive been told most big jap exhaust companies arent...........

I was thinking of de-catting, does anyone know how much power is actually gained from this?

Cheers

When I decatted mine, I did a before and after test using an AP22 performance meter. It showed an increase of 20bhp @ the wheels. So allowing for position error and different atmospheric conditions etc. I reckon

they gave at least 15 ponies extra!

Dave i got a set half price in my section, take a look :)

Is it a pain in the ass to fit the de-cats? Can't imagine being able to access the 4 bolts on the turbos easily.

Cheers
