Check the lables on the bottom of seat belts they have year of manufacture on the. Check the inside of tyres for baldness. If possible well worth taking to a decent garage for a check over. I bought first Z bi saw and spent a small fortune putting it right. Just be carefull you can always get another one.

not sure i understand the question - however you will be buying on OLD car - the maintenace on the car is going to be a better indication of the condition than the age - is it an ex forum car - what receipts are you getting with it - have you had it checked over, have you contacted the previous owner ??

My car is a 1991 yet there are more new parts on it than a 2003 car- so age doesnt mean much - sorry not much help - a well looked after zed will not cause any problems, a badly mainetained zed will probably break down before you get it home

Regards,

basically there is a warming on the forum about z'ds with registration k***bom being registered as a k plate but are really 1990/91 aged cars what should i do guys?

also worth looking under the sills for idiots jacking up the car not using the correct strengthened jacking points, see if it has a original tool kit and blind etc.

where is warning????????????

check all the places where there are age marks ie seetbelt labels, rear light cover plates (theres a thread listing more) if it turns out to be a 90/91 then offer £1000 less for it.

Go here to Andy's site:

http://www.300zx.org.uk/import_dating.htm

That will tell you when the car was made.

If you're not happy, print it out and Jeff TT's post in the other thread and pull out of the sale. Any legitimate seller should understand.

I guess it could be a car made in 89/90 and sat in a showroom for several years before being bought. It sounds more like what Jeff said is true though so maybe pull out of the deal.

depends what the cars like mate....take it for what it is,i.e if it's been looked after, the reg would not put me off.But do check everything that's been told you on here!

Any history, any obvious accident damage/bodge-ups,etc etc.

Like JeffTT said,as long as the price reflects condition, whether a 90' or a 93,does it matter?

I HAVE TRIED THIS CAN ANYBODY DECIFER WHAT YEAR MY CAR IS - CHASSIS NO Z32-001385

start here http://www.300zx.org.uk/import_dating.htm

This advice has been posted by others - not because they wanted to waste your time, because it is their best advice (and it's good). AndyP has a CD where he can check more details (which is why we ask him and try to stay on his good side by following his advice).

That's my advice: follow the links and advice already given. Most of it is right.

:( THANK EVERYBODY

CANT SEE MY CHASSIS No ON THE CHART :(

I'm guessing here but 001385 sounds kinda early so it probably isn't a '93 car.

Like MantaV8 says, condition is more important than a few years one way or the other.

Check this too:

Seat belts on doors means it's a series I. 89-92.

If it's a dealer you're buying from you can legitimately pull out and get a full refund if that's what you want. He may not like it but you can 'reject the goods' legally. If you're not sure, don't take the car. Trading Standards can help if the dealer won't play ball.

no only the chassis number on reciept. the car has no mods in bulk standard condition its older than i thought tho doesn't seem like it could be a 92 k reg does it.

CHASSIS NO Z32-001385 was designated to a NON turbo 300zx with a year of manufacture of 1990 the approx month been october into November of that year so the car should really be registered as a early H reg.

Information source Japan motor vehicle organisation

Jeff TT

This was the link to the old thread:-

YEAR OF MANUFACTURE CONFUSION

Most of the info you need will all be here and on the above link but sounds like Jeff knows his stuff guys....he was right bout mine

But as everyone says......If the car itself is looked after then it could be better than a later model.

For example...as mines an IMPORT I have no rust.....you try finding a UK version that old without any rust

Mine had loadsa mods on it already so I also saved a packet there

Could well be a 89/90 as suggested using this link according to the charts and records but as Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaig David says....go by the condition bud.

Print a few of these charts off and take it with you when you go to buy the car and if it doesnt help you get money off then you have good reason to back out of the sale.

As they say...any honest dealer wont be bothered.

Good Luck

ps.....Black ones are the fastest :D

Yer.....just make sure you are happy with what you are getting for your money.

If you think its worth the dollar then buy it....if not...theres plenty more gooduns that forum members sell.....If all else fails then theres always Ebay :smash:

Do you mind me askin what hes askin for the Z and is it a Trader or private sale?

Good luck

trader its a swb na wants £3950 for it so top money

certainly is max price bud.....especially as you say it has no mods and its a NA on or around a 90.

If its tip-top shape then its worth it but check it over and over for anything....for that price it should be mint.

Dont wanna sound like im putting you off .....just make sure you are happy with what you are getting n tings L B sweet ;)
