Have you capped off the re-circ's?

I'm presuming they fit where the re-circs are &

not on hard pipes in the engine bay?

reving do you mean at idle? that wont set them off as far as i know. go for a drive boost up th turbos then take foot off gas.

Yup these dump valves sit where the re-cir ones used to be.

Its an automatic 300zx twin turbo. I cant understand why there is no sound do the bungs in the other pipe cause any probs if they are not air tight???

On my Nissan 200sx when reving it to approx 4-5k rpm the dump valve is set off so i am sure its the same for the ZX ???

I had the same with my old ones, I am guessing they are the spring and piston type, if so make sure they are on the loosest setting (unscrew) then they will open if this fails you may have to cut the springs cut a ring at time until they open be carefull not to cut to short as they will vent prematurely and will cause the car to stall. Also might help to grease up the insides to help the piston slide. Should you cut too short dont worry as you can always pack with washers inside to compensate.

Hope this helps mate.

Ant

the fact that dont make a noise is a blooming bonus IMO

paulbeam the instructions stated to just fit them into where the re-cir dumpvalves were so they are at an angle i also had to extend the vacume pipe and have checked for any leak , when i took the motor out for a rip around it made a slight noise but was overpowered by the filter.

I think the valves could do with a 90 degree elbow at the joint from the intercoolers.

Thus making the valves fit vertically and no need to extend the vacume hose.

the shorter the vacume hose the more responsive the valves will be.

what you recon?

wish i had a manual thats the next mod on the motor greg.

I know lifes a joke but as you know people come to the tech section due to havin problems they can not fix and require other 300zx`er (experts, pro or novices) to shed some light on. Its not a hobby sitting here talking to people about dumpvalves not working.

This forum has a section called non related zx chat where the humour can be saved for.

P.s: NICE CAR! greg

paulbrem sounds right where can i source a 90degree elbow from.

P.S totally agree with the shorter vacume pipe. Cheerz fella going to play with it now,.

If you have fitted them in place of the stock re-circs, you have blocked of the 2nd tee off which dumps the air back into the system ? if not then they are going to act as re-circs again and not make a noise. Take a pic of the bovs fitted so we can a more definate answer.

cheers

If you do source a thin 90degree elbow post up m8 as I wont be trying as my car will be off the road for quite a while (fitted dump valves about 2 days before no really tested :wack: )

Disagree, bovs are better on an auto, you can only make the sound when you want not at evey gear change ;)

And lets face it the only reason ppl buy them is for a sound!

wish i had a manual thats the next mod on the motor greg.

 :x: :(

Whilst this is the technical section, members will sympathise with you bud and just try n be cheerfull whatever the scenario...only tryin to be friendly :nelson:

Anyway....

I have DumpValves fitted in the engine bay uptop with the re-circs still in place and not plugged.

I still get a lovely PPSSSHHHTTTTT sound.

As above really...see if you have any kind of adjustment on them as they sound bit tight.

Also...as said...the auto's may or may not give quite as much when driving as there is no sudden drop in pressure when like you change gear on a manual although you should be able to get a noise when just reving it at standstill as long as its short sharp bursts upto bout 5-6000 rpm.

(FAO steve-o=when do yours make the sound best...how do you set them off in a auto)

Hope you get it sorted and i'm sure someone else who had this problem will read n reply soon.

Be sure to post up your soloution as youve got me intreaged as to what it could be

:duffer:

only steveo is right on this one, which is why i asked if your car was an auto.

the valves wont dump on gear changes in an auto simply because the engine carries on running through the change. they will only dump when you go into boost and then let off the accelarator

 Mines an auto, accelerate up to a bridge, and as you

go underneath it, let off the gas. this is particularly effective

if someone is walking their dog underneath it at the same time!

Right all you helpfull guys!!! Thanx for all the support so far this dmpvalve issue is only one of my many probs as the Delimiter has been playing up see other thread if interested.

Anyhows I will take pics of the install of dumpvalves.

I have taken the re-cirs out completely as the size of these dumpvalves did not permit the fitting with re-cirs in place. I have blocked off the pipe which feeds into the air filter.

I did loosen the dumpvalves and its making noises now just do not sound as sexy as the noise form my 200sx dump valve am going to have another look as 2 dumpvalves should be better than 1

these look like the ones i got off antf, the springs are cut down coz they were too tight, running about 14psi and they sound good, where in mddlex are ya bud ?

i can measure my spring lengths if that will help

just taken these for ya hope they help, look the same to me, spring is about 4 1/2 " long. i am running 14 psi and the top part is screwed down tight

chris

I just installed my dumpvalves and there is no sound coming out of em. These are the ones they are

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72205&item=7965614885&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

I rev the motor up and all i hear is the air filter making that lovely sound but no dumping. Could anybody tell me what i may have done wrong.??

somewhere in that link the bloke says...

"I HAD THESE IMPORTED FROM THE STATES FOR MY 300ZX.

THESE WERE FITTED TO MY CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK, BUT DUE TO SELLING MY CAR, I'VE TAKEN THEM OFF."

..but there's loads of sets for sale?
