Hi

ive got my stereo system now fitted and complete, however the control wire for the antenna doesnt work , because of a bad wiring job sometime in the cars history.

I removed plastic panel where the antenna motor sits , and connected the live from my amp to it for a few seconds just to raise it.

there are two wires coming directly from the motor and i im thinking if i run a live from the battery and another from the antenna control wire on the back of the head unit to the other cable , it should operate normally?

might work, is there not control/timing relays required to power and reverse the motor for the antenna? i dont know where they are. if you bypass this with a straight feed to the motor you might burn it out, or risk pulling more than 0.5A from your REM wire on the head unit and damage it

There is actually a relay to the aerial.

If you remove the right hand trim inside the boot it is an opaque box the size of a ciggie box bolted just above the wheel arch.

Mine wouldn't work at all when I got the car, my mechanic by-passed the relay just to get some movement so I could listen to the radio. However I bought a 2nd hand one for a few pounds from AndyZ and now it still works properly 2 years later.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
