With those vents in your headlight panel, I'd say your thoughts are most probably correct ;)

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

sounds like its a wet air filter if the MAF gets wet the car will most probably run like a bag of shite above 3000rpm

Had the same prob with mine, it hates the wet ? wot dont help us is the large grill front opening, the filter sucks easter bunnies in from the roadside :-0

:( Well all the way back from the Photo shoot the other sun, mine did the same thing most of the way back to Leicester bud, and as you Know it wasnt raining and wasnt wet......so that therory goes out the window :(

I have been told to look at all connections on the Maf, coil packs, injector connections too....hope i find it soon as it is bugging the shite out of me :headvswal

Sgt C, I would expect your car to run like that all the time.......

Matt - was the car "stuttering" when just cruising? Mine did that last Tuesday night (2am, deserted country road in Warwickshire, pitch black and drizzling ... oh joy!) Hooked the car up the my ConZult and found the left O2 circuit to have been fooked ... Car seems to run ok now but judging from the ConZult feedback both my O2 sensors are lazy if not dead. I've got a pair of new ones but can't get the old ones off the car as (a) I haven't got the right tool and (b) they're rusted (as in fused) to the manifold ... Need someone with the right tool and heaps of strenght (plus a fair dose of courage) to get them out ...

still doing it chaps

even on tickover, its strugling, and then revs upto about 1000rpm then starts to strugle again approx 400 rpm

does this for a while ,then dies

wont start then for 10 mins

all connectors seem fine

cant do much else without a conzult check

dont suppose anyone with a conzult around selby, york, leeds area can check it out for me..pleeeeeeeeeeease

Take the MAF and filter off, dry them out using a hair dryer, clean connetor, put all back on.

as Homebrew says m8, take it off and dry it, as it stays damp for days,

i had the same problem, i sealed the headlight panel and ive now got twin apexis pointing UPWARDS, and touch wood problem solved:)

going to try that today

took the front panel off yesterday

didnt feel wet, but you never know

hope it is just a bit of damp and nothing serious

if it is that

has any one come up with some kind of shield to keep the water offit

i presume its getting in through the centre panel vents (see sig pic)

I have had the same problem as you Tizer, usually after I have washed the car. The water gets in where the center panel meets the bumper (the rubber seal perishes over time) and drips on the filter. I'm going to fit a small polythene sheet under the affected area to direct the water drops away from the filter.

if water is getting in m8, its hard to tell until you remove the filter

then you will see water inside, as Sgt C says it may not be the problem

but worth unbolting a few nuts to check the cheap options first, again as Homebrew says its more likely to be the seal where the front of the headlight panel joins the bumper as its directly above the apexi etc, so try sealing that

or some kind of cover ABOVE the apexi and underneath the headlight panel

I get the same trouble in the wet but only going through puddles.

I figured water coming up to filter from underneath, off inside of the front wheels.

I've planned on putting a guard under, not done it yet so still avoiding puddles, don't know if this is any help or more confusion!

hoping this could be the problem as there is no rubber sel in-between the centre panel and bumper (missing)

if any breakers on here have got one,,please drop me a line
