I have recently replaced my front struts and the top bushes but when running over rougher roads I get like a bump through the steering, car feels ok on flat normal roads only when the going is a bit bumpy, also I have replaced the lower wishbones/tension rod bushes/upper links.

I have noticed that even though the 17mm nuts are tight at the top of the struts, I can turn the bush as though maybee the freeplay is in the mount at the top of the strut.

Any input appreciated cheers john crisp

The spring might not have been compressed enough leaving a play when running over bumps. Tightening the nuts from te top will not help, you best take the struct and have it done properly.

The springs were compressed properly and the top nuts were buzzed up with an airgun then checked before the struts were fitted and after they were fitted, when a shifting spanner is used to hold the strut top centre part and the 17mm spanner is used to try and tighten the nut, its tight, but i can spin the top bush and also move about like either its not being clamped properly by the 2 pieces of the top mount.
