Taking care of your leather (FNAR FNAR)

I've had my Zed about a month and I'm now getting round to getting it 'spick & span'. I have a Leather & Suede (I think) Interior but the Leather has a few scuffs and cracks, does anyone know of an easy way to re-colour / repair the seats without recovering?

I find shoe polish quite effective but make sure you dont leave any residue behind(ooo errrr).

Kiwi shoe wax for the scuffs and cracks, gently rub it in with a duster and buff it off with a shoe polish brush.

For the leather as a whole? Autoglym leather care, purchase from Harry Halfords and follow instructions on the bottle.

Have fun! wink.gif

Mine go through a clean every month (if I'm good).

Leather Cleaner to remove anything that shouldn't be there

Black Shoe Scuff polish to buff up the scuff marks and generally leave a shine on the seat

Neat's Foot Oil to keep the leather supple

Hi Herman

I had

the same problem with the driver seat on my car. It was staring to wear quite bad and the leather need dying on parts. I got a leather care kit from a firm called Gliptone Leather Care UK. They supply specific colour dye / care kits for all cars. You tell them the make, model and leather colour of the car and they have a range made for it.

Mine is charcoal and the dye the sent was very good. The range is call "Liquid Leather" and what you get for the £25.00 price is a colour dye kit, a bottle of leather shampoo and a bottle of leather feeder. The leather feeder makes the car smell like it is new. You will see what I mean if you get some. It works very well and the dye is superb. Give them a call on 0161 8344153 or check out their web site.

Hope this helps M8

Seez ya!!!

Do not wear light coloured chinos after using the scuff polish - Oops, and I was off to see a client. biggrin.gif

The procedure is as follows:

Scuff polish

Autoglym leather feeder

Black jeans for 1 wk

Gliptones site is on

http://www.liquidleather.com/liquidl.htm

I have used this liquid leather for about a year and it takes a long time to wear off. Best of all it will not come off on clothes once dry.

Right I have a stupid question, how do I know what colour my leather is, is it black or dark grey, is there a colour code on the car somewhere, I can't really tell but I think it's black??

Regards

John

Damn simon!, ur cars prettier than i thought!. Any ideas about the leather yet?, still interested?.

I think charcoal is the tech term for the black leather...dare I say this...but I was reading A to ZX that AndyP let me borrow! I have trouble getting to sleep you know...LMAO biggrin.gif

Has all the colours of paint vs. trim etc. wink.gif

In answer to that John they give you three small bottles of liquid. One is a black that can be mixed (if needed ) with a lighter bottle of liquid to give a lighter shade. If as in my case the leather is charcoal and not black. The third bottle gives a gloss sheen over the dyed surface as when the dye is applied it is matt in colour. When I spoke to them I assume they have a list of cars that specfies what leather colours were offered in that model. All I can say is it works and made it look much better than it was.
