hi ,, i got grey blue ish smoke coming out of right bank ,exhaust ,, when car is idleing, and its at operating temp,,ie warmed up fully, also smelling burning oil under bonnet from same side off car,, no oil leaks , ,well none that are dripping onto pavement,, only other thing to add was ryan suspected rear turbo oil seal, when i met him 6 weeks ago at a meet as on the way there car let off big ploom of white smoke on way to meet only did this when came off throttle, but its not done it scince, which is blooming wierd, ,, hopefully going to see ryan very soon, to get more info , just wonderd if any of you guys had some tips, or ideas ??

Mine does exactly the same, but only on warm up, but does stink of oil when parked up. Have changed PCV's but am still awaiting PCV piping so cant tell yet as it maybe crap in the old pipes. Would be interested in hearing what Ryan has to say.

These symptoms on an S13 would prob be worn oil seals on the turbo - smoke on idle only, not on boost/normal running.

Hope this is not the case for you, as an S13 turbo change is easier !!!!!!!

if i told you you wouldnt beleive me,, but here goes,, i havent had time to get it to ryan , but after reading few posts on here, i decided to change the oil in engine,, guess what smoking is almost non existant,, ie no where near as bad as it was before, it runs better,and also now doesnt make tappit noise on start up, anymore!! which it used to for at least 2 mins, now purrs like a kitten ...hopefully this stays as it now will keep you informed .. i wont say its the cure to all smoke probs but if you havent changed your oil in a while its worth considering, especialy seeing as it isnt that dear to do , it cost me 12.49 for gtx magnatec from makros, got free bmw williams hat thrown in,10/40 oil,, oil fllter was five pounds,, washer for sump plug was 1.29.. ps magnetc is 30 upwards anywhere else, but i have makro trade staff card so get 10% of total price , but its still 12.49 + vat,, so still cheap , it saved me a fortune.. cheers to steve-o and others for oil advice ,and ryan for info passed to karlos. cheers all , see mebership has payed me back allready ...
