I've got my rear window and rear quarters "limo" tinted and I'm toying with the idea of painting the body-coloured roof panels black and tinting the T-tops to make it look almost as if it's all one piece of glass, hopefully to emphasise the smooth look I'm going for. What do we reckon people?

Ideally I'd like to graduate the tint down onto the windscreen...not much, just a little at the top so there's no hard edge where the glass meets the black body panel. Anyone have any idea as to what the legal limitations are? I know you can have a sunstrip but how much is too much? Like I said, I only want to tint the very top as I value seeing out of the car! :D

Cheers,

Leigh.

I believe the legal VLT is around 30% mark. Though personally I think it's a good idea to do that your planning. My 300 has limo black rear window as well as the T-Tops. Only problem is I can't see for shite out of the back window when I'm parking now!!!

legally, i think youll find you cannot tint the front screen at all. the tinting co we use wont touch front screens.

I thought it was as high as 75% light

Also, I dont think we wants to tint much of the front screen, sounds like just 5 or 6 inches where the sunstrip should be.....

When i bought a front sunstrip in 1998 it was legal as long as the visor strip did not cover any more than 11cm in depth.

I dont know if all that has changed now.

I used to run a 30cm strip on me Zimmer Bimmer :slap:

:nana2: TOCA styleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :nana2:

I had a crack myself but wasn't impressed with the results which is why I also posted in the Photoshop section as I know there are a few computer graphics guys out there! ;)

I'd definately not want anymore than just a "sunstrip" type width. There's no point having a good looking car that's wrapped around a tree because you couldn't see the road! :D

Leigh, I'm pretty sure Stu (SMW1) did exactly what you are thinking about.

Ahhhh, that makes sense now mate, as it was Stu who originally suggested it to me on a thread a few months back! :D
