Yeh dont bother!! with all the hastle to make them fit and the fact that they have ceramic blades and cannot go over 1 bar of boost!!! its not worth it for very little if any power gain

Kirbz

ones a four bolt and the others a five bolt so a lot of fabrication, but we will wait and see what the improvement is like using GT28R

you going for the gt28's russ??

they were the ones i way going for, should see upto 600ish bhp

kirbz

yep, custom manifold to fit them on. and lots of juice ( 740cc ) and lots of air ( 3x the volume of the stock throttle boddies ) and a few other bits

Yeh ive heard about your throttle boddies ;)

How long till its finished??

Be interesting to see how the turbos fare compared to macs greddy ones

Cheers

I will put my neck on the line and Say that I think Russ will have the fastest 0-60 Z on here!

However once mine have spooled I think Russ will be looking at his handbrake thinking he left it on  :D;)

Sorry to dissapoint you macca lad but the gt28rs turbos will flow more air than the 18g's and they spool up quicker!! so if russ has more air going in and decent manifolds then i expect it to make at least as much power as yours as long as the fueling etc is right :p

Like ive said before this year is going to be a good/interesting year for zeds

LOL If a STOCK ceramic Turbo from a R34 Skyline flows more air than a TD05 18G I will bare my arse in Burtons window for a full week:D:D;)

My mistake, its been pointed out that the turbos are T28's not GT28's so maybe they wont out do macca :smash:

Oh what a nasty thought :wack: :wack: :x:

According to Lymon  right model no GT28R, ceramic, ball bearing T28, yea I know I can only run at 1 bar :headvswal , but not many will be able to catch me :D . I'll be long gone before these big boys spool up :wack:

Well if you are getting the GT28R then they are not the R34 turbos the R34 turbos are T series turbos with ceramic blades hence then wont go over 1 bar. If you are getting the GT series then they are a completely different turbo and are not the same as the skyline turbo and dont have ceramic blades!! garrett have just bought out a GT28R and are a dual ball bearing turbo that can boost upto 2 bar of boost and can flow enough air for about 300-320 bhp so similar to macs 18g's.

Now the puppies you do want are the new GT2871R now these babies are awsome and are rated at about 400 bhp EACH lol

Kirbz

No I'll stick with my little ones only after about 450 bhp, just after a lot of response

Ppppphhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaa you will soon get bored with 450 bhp and want more ;)

Very suprised you have gone with the T28 as its quite a laggy turbo?? thought maybe a GT25R would have given you more than enough power and next to none spool up time?

Cant wait to see the throttle boddies though when its done :hyper:

The TD05 18g are rated at 400bhp each. not 300-320

says who??

according to a couple of turbo power rating charts i have they all rate the 16g at around 300 each the 18g at around 325 each and the 20g at around 370 each which does work out with the amount of air they can flow 400 no chance there simply not efficient enough

Says Eric Lymon!

His PM here from last year

Re: Greddy 18G

16G should be good for 350hp each, the 18G for 400hp each

I have no personal experience with either 16G or 18G, but looking at the flow maps, the 18G has more lag.

well not according to the maps they wont, they simply wont flow enough to reach that amount of power!! there a great, tried and tested turbo which no doubt is one of the reasons you went for them but the technology in them is fairly old now. In fact i'm suprised greddy/trust have not bought out any roller bearing turbos yet as this is the way forward for both power and spool up time.

I dont doubt that you have a great setup Iain and as you know i was going to get the same one before i went for the GT-RS set up

Those figures seem very minimal between the 3, it would be hardly worth the cost & even producing them if that was the case (IMO ;))

Hmmm yet another Dyno lie? 744RWHP on Turbos smaller than mine

http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/october03/wagner_z/

That must be well over 800 at the crank.

I like the thrust bearing set up much better than the BBs,I have given this project much thought and not cut a single corner in doing so never has is crossed my mind in throwing in the towel and selling up,funny when ever my car comes up its always BHP that comes into it LOL!

I have NOT built the car to reach big BHP I have build this car to give massive mid range power and top speed runs, that will all come together when I fit the six speed box.

I love it when people say NO way will it do that No way will it do this all part of the fun in building a monster and having the balls to do it:D

MAC - Was it not you who actually slated this dyno as total american BS?? and if the car got dyno'd at 550 bhp would you be happy?? and yes i was maybe a little quick to throw in the towl!! but after waiting for 8 months after i had paid the guy for my turbos i had just had enough :( hindsight is a lovely thing lol

Paul - Please remember that the 16 and 18g are the same housing just a different compressor wheel and then you go onto the td06 which again has several different varients etc

As there ceramic ball bearing the spool up should be instant, in fact I've been told they will spin on anything over 1000 rpm, have to wait and see, as to the power been in a couple at 550bhp but did not like the wait for the cams and tub's to come in , seemed to be about 4000rpm. don't really need massive power for what I use the car for, but I am hoping to get 0-60 3.5 , 1/4 mile 12.5 normal, 11.7 slicks

How many zeds are there pushing over 450 lb of torque ?

I only know 9 that will be capable

TBH russ i am sort off leaning over to the way your thinking!! i was chasing big ponies before thats why i built a mega engine but then i bought the supra with the T88 single on it and the car had a genuine 600++ bhp but nothing until 4500 rpm then it was just stupid lol fun but you could see how it could kill you lmao

Regardless of whats above i still think the best alround turbo for the zed is the HKS 2530 for the spool up and power so there :D

Mike

ps love you all ;)

First of all why would I be happy? I don't give a shite at who has what BHP unlike some people I know

Not always true, this picture is showing my 18Gs, Top,True T28s left and CJs 16Gs right
