OK....i have trawlled through hundereds of old posts on here and have come to the conclusion that everybody thinks theirs is the best and some think that GPS based systems, wont alarm you to mobile sites, police sat on bridges with radar guns, or hidden in their van on a layby....so how do i pick one of these???

I know that a decent one is gonna be expensive but how much is your licence worth to you??

I need to get one before they are banned and my needs are:-

1)No crap that don't work till ur given ticket

2)Must have radar jammer

3)Able to detect all gadgets that theyll nick you with whether its mobile or fixed.

4)be handy to have sat nav built in but depends on cost.

5)The more indescreet the better...speed cheetah's idea(although if a big lump on me dash would work better then id settle for one)

below are ones that people have recommended but i would appreciate some up-to-date info please chaps/chapesses:-

Snooper SLD 920x

target lrc 100

tom tom navigator

Origin b2 GPS

S6-R Radar Detector

S4 + SLD920x combined

Bell 550 (possible false alarms?)

Bell Vector Long Range

road angel

Speed Cheetah(replacement rear view mirror with a radar detector built in)

Of course you understand that i would never intentionally break any speed limits what so ever ;)

An advanced thanks to all that post as i know this subject has been covered several times but need updating me thinks :smw:

radar jammer :slap:

get caught and it's perverting the cause of justice

forget which one i've got , but I would imagine they all have the same fault, that if your really towing it , the alarm goes off by the time you have worked out what it is , you have passed it

Radar jammers are seperate and not related to the Radar detector. I have a snooper s6-r neo and havent has a ticket in the 3 years ive has it.

Hi, i think i read somewhere that they are trying to ban all radar detectors this year. I dont know if it will come into action or not, but if it does'nt i will definitely be buying a Road Angel 2 as they are the Dogs Danglies!! On Ebay for about £300.

They are trying to ban Laser detectors, not radar detectors. The GPS based ones will still be legal as they give you advanced warning of the so called accident black spots where, as we all know that`s where all gatso`s are located!!!

What they don`t like is you having advanced warning of the tw@ts that park up in the vans at the side of the road, which is what the Laser detectors do.

i've got a snooper s4 neo, thats without the radar as the police have discontinued them, and it means it does'nt go off when you drive past shops with automatic doors and the like, it will also does laser, i have never had any problems. worth a look. ;)

I used to have a snooper sd815 and it was rubbish bloody thing would'nt stop beeping!! was glad to get ridd of it. Kept me from speeding though :)

Sorry to hi-jack !

Nice Avatar pic !!

Alan.....

none of the above will cover you against everything m8

you need to spend serious money to do that, but got to be worth it in the end

you also havn't listed one of the best, micro road pilot with laser detector, as much as i like my road angel, i tend to rely more on the road pilot for the info it gives out, ie tells you the speed limit on the road your on, and the speed your travelling, gives a couple of supbtle beeps if your under the limit, and screams like a banshee if your over and approaching a camera.

I also have a laser jammer fitted, if it detects my car being zapped it blocks the signal, screams like a good 'un and then switches itself off, so they can then get a reading, yes it's illegal, but i'd rather get done for using and and probably lose it, than instant ban, as i said depends how much you want to spend, or if its just for general "safety" if so i HIGHLY recommend the road pilot, its size alone means it fits in that little pocket in your jeans, yet plenty clear enough in the car;)
