To tell you the truth Cos i'm not 100% sure. I've been to a few garages and they say that it is the clutch - but they aren't so called z specialists.

I'll tell you the symptoms and you guys tell me if you have had any similar problems:

The car over revs after each gear change and there is a distinct lack of power. There are no leaks from under the car, and there are no problems with the biting point as far as i am aware. I have also tried setting off in 4th and the car stalls as it should.

What do you think guys??

I have a 92 N/A. Mine started playing up and (like some have suggested) adjusted the clutch internally. Got about another 2000 miles before she finally gave up the ghost. Would coast along nicely but as soon as you floored the pedal the engine would spin and very little happened. I was not interested in anything special and just wanted a bloody clutch to get my car on the road again. Challenger (which I believe are a nationwide group) fitted a 3 part clutch which cost me £350 all in. Has now done in excess of 5000 miles with no hassle - that said, they did put the prop shaf on 180 degrees out and she rumbled like a ******* when I first took off. Took it back and they changed it in 30 mins. As your in London I'm sure you could find a Z Specialist. I am down in deepest Cornwall but was still surprised to find most clutch fit centres would do the Z for around the 300-400 mark. Apparently they aren't that difficult - although bugger doing it yourself!

Hope this helps.

Shelton thats EXACTLY the same symptoms my car is suffering from right now! Thanks for the info mate, really really helpfull and looks like ill try adjusting the clutch internally to get some more life out of it.

Was your car back performing normally (for the extra 2000 miles anyway) after adjusting the clutch internally?

I must admit there is nothing special about the zed clutch, unless you go for an uprated one, most places can fit them as they the same as the majority of clutches!

Yep. Performed normally for approx 2000 miles. You need to position yourself upside down in the drivers seat and you can see exactly where the adjusting nut is. Hope you get on OK.

I successfully adjusted and bled mine on saturday. It was dragging and selecting 2nd quickly it would crunch into gear. As the car warmed up and got hot gear selection was more difficult and when it was really hot selecting 1st was impossible, adjusted pedal a couple of turns (b1tch to do) and bled it, now cluch bite is at the top of the pedal and not right down on the floor. Drives like new now.
