at a guess £200 for the clutch assembly and £150 fitting just guessing though

Thanks greg, much appreciated.

Faz, Have a search on here for clutch adjustment, it may well be out of adjustment rather than need replacing, at worst you might get some more life out of it

Jock, how do i go about doing that then mate?

Will any garage be able to check for me?

I had an ACT Fast Road Organic Clutch fitted by Mike Feeney (MJP, trader in this forum), and it cos £600 supplied an fitted

Seems like a damn good clutch, though I havent abused it really

Steve

Mine's only a non turbo so am really only looking for oem parts.

Anyone know how much it should cost to have a clutch adjusted? so i know if the quote i get is a competitive one or not!

D.I.Y faz if you put the electric seat back as far as it goes to give yourself plenty of room theres a nut behind the clutch pedal that can be ajusted, only problem is knowing which way to turn it,i know it doesnt take much to alter it so be careful, but i certainly wouldnt pay someone to do it!

do a search on the forum, for ajustments to clutch, should throw up some answers, search facility is at the top, just type a keyword :)

good luck greg

I've decided i'm gonna have to get a new clutch sooner or later, so does anyone know of the cheapest place to get a standard clutch for a non turbo?? Are there any traders who give special discounts on this forum?

Faz

I think your closest and most highly recomended specialist would be Ztech, inbetween Newbury and Swindon, just of the M4 who can supply and fit.

Prices on website, http://www.ztech.co.uk, or contact via Traders section.

Don't do stock clutch kits mate, however i do sell i reckon the most commonly used one on here the RPS series, feels just like stock, BUT will should you or the next owner decide in the future to do some mods, happily take a few extra BHP that you can throw at her. Costs around £250 with a usual fitting cost of around 200 quid depending where you go.

cheers

Thanks for the info, but im really only looking for an oem one and thats a little pricy for me. I'm looking at more in the range greg quoted, where did you find that btw greg?

Also, i've found a garage to fit it already, all i need is the clutch itself.

Faz

to be honest, if you can stretch to the extra cost of the RPS Unit it would make a lot of sense. It does'nt cost much more than the standard unit, but if you ever intend to increase boost the stock one will start slipping and you'll have to upgrade it then.

EDIT : Just realised you have a non-turbo. So what I said does'nt really apply I guess

Faz,

to be honest your better off with the RPS kit and will be about the same price as OEM with VAT etc from nissan. I did mine before Christmas and got a local garage (Who owned a Z) to fity it for me.....Also, make sure you get an uprated pivot ball as well which are prone to fail..If you're doing the clutch a wothwhile extra while the box is off! I scanned teh forums for a week on advice for this job before i decided so have a good look around the forum and get some info...

I also replaced the slave cylinder (OEM) for an extra 50/60 quid which is also prone to leak with teh pressure of a new clutch plate!

I bought mine from Smithys Place and he was alot faster on delivery than Nissan too!

best of luck!

Damian.

wat do people think of the Exedy clutch for the non turbo z32??

I can get one from the US for $49  and the shipping is $89.

Worth it??

Faz

Faz - you 100% sure that the clutch is going? Just checking that's all. These Z's are renouned for making it difficult to get the air out of the hydraulic system.

If you are, then RPS are ok. I had problems with mine but mine was a TT. If I was to have a RPS clutch again, I would always go for the next one up to what RPS recommend, power-wise that is. They do have a stock feel to them but they are not the best if you want to do high rev pull offs, i.e. drag runs.

Overall, not a bad choice though. Good luck.

To tell you the truth Cos i'm not 100% sure. I've been to a few garages and they say that it is the clutch - but they aren't so called z specialists.

I'll tell you the symptoms and you guys tell me if you have had any similar problems:

The car over revs after each gear change and there is a distinct lack of power. There are no leaks from under the car, and there are no problems with the biting point as far as i am aware. I have also tried setting off in 4th and the car stalls as it should.

What do you think guys??

Faz

Please bare in mind my z's a none turbo

I would definately check that there isn't air in the system.

Do you find that it gets worse as the car warms up?

Not really Cos, doesn't get worse if it gets warmer.

I'm based in Ilford, Essex. Anyone know of any z specialists in London i could take my car to?

Thanks mate-sorry Gio didn't see your post mate!

That is a post on how to adjust your clutch pedal, bear in mind the pedal sometimes only needs adjusting after a new or uprated clutch is installed, so it is probably not your problem.

It could be air in your system, if there has been no work done lately on your clutch, the usual culprit is a leaky slave cylinder.

pull the rubber back on the slave cylinder and if it is damp then it needs replacing and the system needs bleeding!
