Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has had this. Basically the car runs fine until the boost level reaches about 10 psi, it then runs on 5 cylinders but if I let off the throttle it recovers and runs on 6 again. It seems to be worse at higher revs i.e. plays up at less than 10 psi. I've individually checked all the coil packs and plugs and they're all A1. I haven't checked fuel line pressure and noticed that cylinder no.4's plug seemed to have a little fluid on it when I removed it shortly after running it. I thought it could be an injector stuck open but surely it would run badly at lower boost and there'd be lots of black smoke.

Cheers

Dave

are you positive it isn't a coilpack? I had exactly the same problem and it was the coilpack underneath the balance bar. It was only a mm or so off but when the engine reved, it would cause the problem.

Hi. Mine will red line in neutral no problem (still all 6 cylinders firing). The problem only occurs on high boost at higher revs. When you say your coilpack was a mm off or so, do you mean it was sat too high off the plug?

Dave.

I had this happen due to a dodgy injector connector. Normally the car would be running fine on 6, but on boost, the front OS injector lead would move and cause it to run on 5. Off the gas pedal and it would go back to 6 after a few seconds. Hasn't done it since I temporarily fixed the lead until I get a replacement plug on there.

Cheers Mujina, I'll check them. I'm tempted to remove the plenum and have a proper look at everything but it looks like a nightmare.

Just like to say a big thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I had two faults - a break in the wiring to the det sensor itself and a short circuit between ground and the det sensor input (pin23) of the ECU just to make it nice & easy! Although I was getting code 55, it was occasionally going into safety boost mode without me knowing. Fitted the 1MOhm resistor between pins 23 and 50 (ground) of the ECU and hey presto - no hesitation at all!
