 How much does the uk 300ZX TT pump out in BHP? I think I've heard they are less than imports is this true?

How can the extra BHP be gained if this is true?

Cheers Tom

wouldnt it be cool if someone somewhere actually came up with the real bhp differences between the different models of Z

There are stats used as a sales pitch and then real stats.

To be truthful we will never know. Unless we get a totally brand new Euro spec, Jap spec and US spec and dyno them all. Of course it is not going to happen.

There is no point trying to compair stock dyno results from what we have now, when engine parts have hundreds of thoudands of miles of use on them and most of the parts nearly 15 years old.

The brochure said US Manual 300bhp Auto 280bhp. Euro Manual just says 300bhpp. JDM manual and auto 280bhp.

But there have been many arguments that the US one has never been 300bhp, I have seen arguments that the US measure bhp differently to europe and Japan.

The dynos I have seen of standard UK spec cars suggest they are closer to 280bhp than 300bhp, but like stated above, these are cars with many many miles and most of the parts 15 years old.

What can you do to make up the lost power (if there is any). The standard things, new cone induction kit, sports exahust, decat the down pipes. Just the standard things you do to start modifying any car.

Why would you test a standard zed?

Mod it first - then test it!!!!!

Has any 1 rolling roaded there car what did u get for a standard zed?
Herman did his completally stock car at thor a while ago and got 220 at the rear wheels , funnily enough Jock had a heavily modded NA that was only a few BHP down from that :p

if you subscribe you could look at all the results in the Dyno Results forum, that show anyones figures that has done it.

Well as peeps know i did mine a few weeks back, Induction, chiped Ecu, De-cat and different plugs and got 290.6 RWbhp which i dont think is bad 348 FWbhp but then she was spinning like a dog so will take he to Thor once i have sorted the electrical problem out.

Japs had restrictors in the exhaust. USA has different emissions laws so the ecu was tuned more conservatively.

Just blow it up and rebuild it how you want it :D

IIRC the restictors are at the front of the "H" section.

Yep, I had mine cut out yesterday. They are at the start of the pipe directly after the cats.

Are these hard to remove and what sort of power increase can you expect if any?

If you have a Performance Cat back exhaust then these are already replaced.

They are effectively a pair of washers that reduce the stock bore size of 2.25" to around 1.5". We levered them out with a metal bar, and then dremeled the rough edges it left. You could also just dremel them out.

I am noticing better throttle response and quicker Turbo spool up.
