I need help ive got the dreaded blue smoke coming from my exhaust, But only happens when tikking over and only comes out of drivers side. It doesnt smell like burning oil and my car runs ok, if i have the demister on in my car it doesnt smoke but if i have the auto and econ on it smokes like a trooper please help im praying its not one of my turbo's :confused:

You are better changing the PCV valves under the plenum. THat is the usual culprit.

so its not my turbo then, how easy are pcv valves to change or is it another trip to the garage?

Check the oil level first. Blue smoke means the oil is being burnt off by combustion so its not the rear turbo seals (as long as it really is blue). The only difference the aircon will make is slightly lower manifold vacuum due to the fast idle valve being open (increased revs), so this would tend to suggest a breather problem rather than a turbo failure.

 

1) Check oil level

2) Replace PCV valves and hoses...

3) Compression test
