Try using a socket slightly smaller than the nut, hammer it over locking nut using a wooden block to avoid damaging alloy, hopfully this should work, all depends on the kind of locking nut.

its a halfords jobby

My locking nuts have an outer ring that spins on it own, so that method would not work.

Im sure you can get a locking wheel nut removal tool, try halfords.

Sorry to be a bore, but it's not going to be that easy, else all the thieving... thiefs would all be at it...

I've only seen one person get lockers of, and that was with a hammer and thin cold chisel, he battered the nut into many small pieces and into complete submission

Welding something would (I think) be your other best option

Be careful

I just re-read that, ...... "Be Careful" what a STUPID thing to put, as if you'll beat the crap out of it, and NOT be careful...

Sorry, It's late friday and I'm knackered! - it's not even that late, just feels it!

I have a set similar to the ebay ones, mine has 4 parts not just two, sto cover different sizes. These DO NOT work on top quality locking nuts as they are too hard for the "key" to cut into.

However Halfords own brand, if they are, nuts are probably cheap rubbish, and often the ring that spins can just be chiseled off and then one of the "keys" used. But Halfords also sell the best lockers I have ever used, cant remember the name, durrhh, and if its those you have you may be in deep trouble. BUT, the manufacturer, I wish I could remember their name, will sell you a key if you send a digital photo of the locker and ID etc. HA, McGARD is the name.....Hope this helps

dead easy mate, this same thing happened to me and billynomates told me to "twaat a socket on",it worked!!!!!!!!

get a 16 point socket slightly smaller the wheel nut and knock it on,then rest it on somthing and knock the nut through the socket with a long bolt, get a long reach socket and dont use chinees shite or it will split

Does anyone know what type he has? As knocking a socket onto a Mcgard round locking nut might be a waste of time. If he can get it on at all. They are probably harder than the socket.

i had the same thing on my audi, beat the shit out of it with a socket but to no avail, went to my local audi dealer and hey presto 30secs later all locking bolts off and a brand new set free of charge :hyper: having said this they were origional audi locking bolts

have you a number code for your lock nuts??

as the guys said halfords do a set, but try your local tyre depot first let them sweat it out and cut there knuckles LOL!!

yeah, done this myself many times.

mind you, if you have trouble finding 16 point sockets then use a 12 point one ;) :D

   doh

I once got some off my old Merc with a hammer and chisel. I had to do it that way because the caps would just spin around so using a socket would have been pointless.

the lockin nut is made by mcgard and also i have seen these locking nut removal tools which use a reverse thread. anyone know if i need a larger or smaller removal socket to the 22mm lockin nut on it??

I am fairly sure if you have a Mcgard the reverse thread idea will not work. I lost a key to McGard, thought "No Probs" I have my set of reverse thingies.

They would not even scratch the McGards.

However, as I said earlier. McGard will sort you out a new key from a photo I believe. They have a web site, phone head office, Europe somewhere, and they are VERY EFFICENT.
