SE NISSAN 100% so far!

Ok guys,There seems to be mixed feelings in this forum about SE, I have all my major work done there and travel around 500 miles to do this.Every thing they have done turbos, gearbox, and tuning has been 100% satisfactory. So if they were so bad as some of you say,why have I not had any problems? I find Pete's knowledge on the 300zx exceptional.

there's a lot of mechanics at every shop, you probably lucked out with a better mechanic =)

I had bad luck in a shop down here, found a mechanic that was good, and now he's the only one allowed to touch my cars smile.gif

I dont think anyone is doubting Petes skills. It's just that if you look at the problems Warren had(seeing as he is the most vocal biggrin.gif ) it was down to various issues like customer service, accurate diagnosis and some other things(Warren add what I missed mate!).

I have been a customer of SE for 3 years, and in that time they have always been helpful, even diagnosing and sorting small problems for free(loose exhaust, disconnected boost hoses etc).

They have carried out all my servicing/MOT's and have replaced or repaired bodywork, rear exhaust, seatbelt, suspension mountings, shocks, brakes, heater core, windscreen and various bits and pieces.

One issue I did have was time taken for a repair, but this was down to the amount of work they have had to deal with this year. Most of us know how hard it is to get hold of them via the phone, but now with Paul and Andy down there it is getting better.

As with most companies you will have customers who have had bad experiences and good experiences.

Personally when I get bad customer service somewhere it is rare that I will think of going back and I reckon most people are the same.

At the end of the day we Z owners are quite lucky cos we can get advice and products from people like Johnny at GPS, Ian at Hiteq, Smithy, Bob, Kiki at Option, JeffTT, Phoung in the states and others, so we have a choice and so long as Pete and the guys at SE are there, that is one more choice we have as Z owners. Not necessarily the choice you will make but that is down to the individual.

Trev

Im not doubting Pete's Knowlege, and i think he knows his stuff and is a avery pleasent person. What i dotn like is the way i was ripped off, and im sure lets get a vote going, youll find more people unhappy than happy.

im one of the horror stories and there are many more, alot of people prefer not to say anything, called being diplomatic.

pete came on here a while ago promising to chnage everythign to do with customer relations, "what a joke"

At the end of the day ill stop slagging S.E when they give me the moeny back for the work they did on my car (which turned out not to actually be any work lol, just paperwork and bills)

In south africa the motor industry is ripe with RIPOFF artists and i thaught that was different, but S.E proved to me that over here they just rip a person off more than there.

Quite honestly and dont take this the wrong way, but most of you guys who deal with them say your happy because you try to justify the money you spent.

I mean one example of my experience.

I go in there, they take my car down the road without my permission, (so no doubt droveit like loonys) get back start telling me all sorts of things, The cars detonating, we need to turn down the boost, we cant figure out why its boosting so hi, your clutch is slipping (bear in mind i went in to find out about a clutch)among other things. They put boost jets in to lower the boost with "there conversion" charge me £240 saying they cant figure it out. (i mean harves giving boost jets away) they did not even bother to look if i had a modified ECU. how very proffesional frown.gif frown.gif frown.gif?

i have a theory, pete builds his engines to break biggrin.gif to ensure continued customer return.

the law states they have to quote you before they work on your car, they refused to do so.

What did you want a quote on?

I thought when dealing with internal stuff i.e engine/transmission/torque converter damage and the state of the internals is not known the best you can get is an estimate. Then up to you to commit to the work and find out the true extent of the damage on investigation.

Trev

Night shift has finished an I'm off home for some kip!

I've had the same experience with them as Trev. Nuff said.

when an estimate is "uuuhhmmm eerrrmmmm hmmmmm not sure"

its probably not sufficient wouldent you say.

the thing is i leave this alone and everyone keeps trying to defend them all the time,

notice i dont bring these topics up.

This is the same as the manual/auto debate, Auto drivers were the most vocal yet there are more manual drivers ont he forum smile.gif

(and no im not bringing up auto/manual debate)

Don't make me laugh !

ok so i dont but gimme a break im trying wink.gif

In a MANUAL you are a DRIVER....In an AUTO a mere PASSENGER! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Fuckin' sadens me to think that someone would impersonate me! Go on...FUCK OFF!!!! wink.gif

Right, now that's out of the way I may begin...

Right, can I just say that I think alot of the stories that get banded around are twisted contortions of what actually happened. Warren, how can installing boost jets lower your boost? Why did SE fit boost jets after informing you that your car was detonating etc. when I've been told that most of the 240 squid you pay them for is checking the state of your car and mechanicals to ensure that it can take the higher boost in the first place???

Nobody, not even SE, will dispute the fact that a set of welding jets cost a couple of squid!

Look, I was gonna take my car straight to SE when I started having problems. But I went via Middlehurst(because it was close to de Wales...Aiiiii) who I would say ripped me off! If you want the details anyone drop me a mail or do a search coz I ain't fuckin' repeating myself again! wink.gif

Arriva tried to screw me telling me my engine was totalled, well if that's the case why is it running smoother than a babies arse now then? 750 miles since Friday and still spot on! Goes like shit off a shovel and fucks Kirk SLK320's big time!!! Wasn't even trying FFS! biggrin.gif

---------------------------------------

I said that I would start using Hiteq now purely because they are closer to home, but hey, I work all over the country and with me being darrnnn sarrrffff at the moment I'm gonna keep using SE!

They've done a brilliant job on my car, I don't need to say that to justify how much I've spent. Pete stuck to the original quote and it was no more or less at the end of the day! Spot on!

Only reason my end bill was higher was because of all the extras I asked for e.g. New radiator and engine bay wiring loom which they have fitted exceptionally well considering that they probably haven't done that many of them.

Top Job and I will continue to use them in the future!

Oh and in response to Duffman on the other post about "Pete's spanner" being the cause of my rattling...at least I didn't find a depleated roll of electrical tape and a throttle cable guide bracket just sitting on top of my headlights in the engine bay after a 400 mile journey like I did after my car went to fuckin' Middlehurst!!! Nuff said!!!

to long to read and way to boring and besides its abotu SE so all you have to say is

CRAP biggrin.gif

This is one of Warrens points entirely.

Why did they put boost jets in ?

Especially after they had told him that his car was detonating ?

Why did they not find his Mines ECU ?

Why charge for a kmh/mph conversion that was already done ?

Warren took his car there almost as soon as he got it, as they were the only people he knew a the time...

These are the points he continually brings up and argues about.

I am not taking sides or saying who's right or wrong, but i know these are his arguments...

Oh HAVE I GOT A STORY FOR YOU ABOUT SE!!!! Just wait till I get these photos off Johnny wink.gif

You are NOT gonna believe this biggrin.gif

OK Andy if that is true then that is bad.

But how would you feel if a company said they

could fix your car charge you over £700 and when you get it back it runs worse than it did? O and forgot to tell you travel 150 miles to see your car and they shut the door in your face and tell you they are closed.FFS!

So Warren knows what a boost upgrade is doesn't he? Can he say the word NO? Is my point!

I was told my engine was fucked by Arriva Nissan and did I just go along with it? Knowing fuck all about engines and what to look for if they're bad? NO, I walked away and rang SE! My point is say fucking NO if you're not sure!!!

It's called getting a second opinion to most people! Doesn't always work granted...my first stop was my local Nelson and I didn't give them any hard earned apart from the consult printout. Then second opinion at Middlehurst who quite happily took nearly 500 squid off me for fuck all and leaving foreign objects in my engine bay!

Then Arriva to be told and shown in their workshop by their top Nissan mechanic that my engine was fucked! Did I say yes to a new engine at 4.5K? NO! Did I say yes to a recon? NO! Did I say yes to them doing a rebuild? NO!

Rang SE and got the pros in! Sorted!

All my own personal opinions of course!

If you wanna start all the "I've had a mail from so and so about so and so" etc. I've got loads about Middlehurst aswell!!! People on and off this forum, one guy who lives near me who's got a GT-R...nuff said I think!

actually i was told , well if we dont fit these jets into your car and lower the boost you are looking for shit because your car odes not have an ECU modified and stock ecu running on 1.4 bar boost is dangerous (so they got me panicky) i knew nothign about this car timmy, at the end of the day m8t SE engineering FUCKED ME OVER GOOD AND PROPER AND IM SURE THEY HAVE FUCKED MANY OTHER PEOPLE OVER BASED ON THE FACT THEY COULDENT EVEN FUCKIGN FIT YOUR FUCKING WHEELS ON PROPERLY frown.gif SAYS ENOUGH FOR ME.
