Anyone have any ideas on what this could be , the noise only happens when I push the clutch down , only moving from 1st into 2nd and 2nd into 3rd , definately not a grinding noise. Clutch is brand new. Noise sounds like a high to low to high pitched groaning/creaking noise ?????? Any ideas anyone??? Il try to be more descriptive when i drive it later. could release bearing cause this ???

karl that would be your rear subframe creaking and whinning at the amount of MDF now in the boot :slap: , by the way you had a new release bearing with the clutch

does the noise occour when pressing the clutch, or when shifting the gear lever?

mainly fibreglass mate!! ok bit of mdf LOL but only a bit

Spigot bearing that fits in the rear of the crankshaft, this supports the input shaft from the gearbox. Pressing the clutch down and releasing back up loads and unloads the input shaft laterally, often overlooked at the time of changing the clutch, in my view this very low cost item should be changed with the clutch as it is near impossible to check the exact condition of it when fitted, maybe it was? may be it wasn`t, maybe it is dry, ask the garage who did the work, of course the noise could be unrelated that!s why its a good idea to change it.

Interesting. I got the same noise today (only once mind). It seemed to be as I was releasing clutch having put gone up from 2nd to 3rd. I only had a new clutch fitted on Saturday.

seen a fair few 300's now with the pilot bushing which jeff is referring to missing :( and the clutch's never made any noise at all so i don't think thats your problem karl although RPS do supply a new one as part of the kit which was fitted

Ryan

yeah I had a new pilot bushing supplied and fitted with my RPS jobby too.

Just thought what it sounded like. You know the groan you get from the water pipes in an old house when you turn on the tap. Kind of like that but a bit distant like it was in another room lol. Sorry that reads a bit weird - think I need to go to bed!

if a spigot bearing is missing, how can it make a noise? if the noise is there only when the clutch pedal is down, the gearbox is not turning, leaving only the spigot or release bearing surely!
