Cough, Slutter, Cut out....Sh1t no breaks..

Any body got any ideas why my car which has been running fine (till i gave it a bit of a caning) has started to cough, splutter, backfire & cut out after very erratic tick over speeds. When driving in third it shudders like your trying to pull off in fith, then backfires. Ivan was behind me & said he saw big poofs of black smoke when I booted it. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Hello mate

See you still went then, what was the weather like?

I had a very similiar problem to this and mine did it as I was approaching a roundabout! No breaks and I shat me pants! Stopped in the middle of the roundabout too, very embarassing!

I cant remember what the problem was?!? Was about a year back now.

Sorry I cant be of more, I think it went after I fitted one of Shrimpys grounding kits....

Sorry to hear this bud, but the last person i followed with black smoke had problems with his O2'sensors, and then i think the tub seals aswell .......:(:(

Im sure someone will be along to give you more advice
