February 18, 200521 yr First time on site.Just bought 1990 300zxturbo auto, what should i expect performance wise, are there any common faults to look out for. many thanks rob
February 18, 200521 yr as far as i know a j-spec,only concern is milaege is 85000km which seems low for a 1990 car car, buying from a garage so hopefully no fiddles going on
February 18, 200521 yr If its a J-Spec look behind the bumper and see if you have 1 or 2 coolers (mini radiator looking things) in front og the electric fan. If you have one, its just your oil cooler. So to make your gbox last longer you need to but a new oil cooler from a dealer on here and then use the origional one as an autobox oil cooler.
February 18, 200521 yr Also it has stainless exhaust roughly2+4inch exits is there any way of knowing if its been chipped to suit

The japanese do very little mileage, and they are also very strict with servicing and vehicle testing regulations. Plus the Zed is often only used as a weekend car. Thats not to say its not been clocked, but almost all Jap Imports that come over have very low mileage. Here is a buying guide (bit late I know, but handy for checking the car over after) : http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm
February 18, 200521 yr the ferry takes a few weeks at sea the guys have to occupy themselves somehow!
February 18, 200521 yr Also it has stainless exhaust roughly2+4inch exits is there any way of knowing if its been chipped to suit you might be lucky and find a sticker on the ECU. In the passenger side footwell, peel back the carpet. You will see a wooden board. Remove the screws and take this off. You will have the ecu infront of you with a nissan sticker and a numer 23 i think. Look for any other stickers that may have been added after. Anouther way is to take the ECU apart or even easier get somebody with a Conzult computer to plug into your car and tell you how the ecu is set up.
February 18, 200521 yr Check you boost guage to see how far to the right it goes on full boost. If it goes all the way to the right, youve probally got boost jets. If it dont go very far to the right you may have a boost leak or are in saftey boost. (although stock guages are not known to be the most accurate). Also run an ecu diagnostic, which im sure legrath could point you to as i forgot where the info is. Remove the panel in between the headlights and have a look to see if it has an induction kit (cone) or normal air filter (big black plastic box)
February 18, 200521 yr Most important of all get out there and drive the thing - they really kick ass! Drivin Ivan
