When i put my foot down and accelerate hard i get a puff of smoke from the exhaust. Doesnt do it gently excelarating or normall driving just when i floor it, doesnt keep smoking just for the initial few secs. Any ideas ? :)

what colour is the smoke?

its a bit hard to see cause there aint loads but it looks grey in the mirror

sound like turbo seals if under hard acceleration does it smoke on over-run

what is over run ?

What ECU chip are you using?

dont know m8, it was in the car when i bought it. i want to change it to something that is known though. the guy said it was a phase 2 chip ?

no only get the ususall white condensation when cold. the smoke only ever come when flooring it.

mine lets out a big puff o smoke when i floor it n im thinkin it can only be tubby seals mine lets out a BIG puff o smoke just as it get up to temp only whilst stood any sign of that with yours ? hope it aint yer seals :(

When you first boot it? sounds like just fuel

I got a single poof of dark smoke when I floor it for the first time. It looks like loose soot which gets blown out when driving hard.

yep unfortunatly unless ya can pull the engine yerself and then i think it is cheaper to replace the tubs than get the seals replaced could be wrong though :(

:slap: silly boy go to the back of the class. no your partly right.

 

Over run is when you lift off the Gas after accelorating hard. If the Oil seals in the turbo are knackered then usually what happen is that the oil is pasted through the tub while the tub is spooling hard (no smoke) As soon as you back of and the presure isn't forcing the oil through at sill Knots the the residue hits the hot tub and tub walls and bingo Big belch of smoke. Also it its idling it will smoke as it burns off in the exhaust.

 

So your tubs may be OK and first thing to check out would be check plugs and see if she's runing rich, Change your PCV's (cos if they are knackered it'll smoke like a *******.) + Many other things to check first before you go running of for new tubs so speak to someone like Duffer, Baggins or any good mechanic instead. :shock:
