Okay - I f**ked up. Caught by a GATSO, I am the only named driver so I can't get out of it. I was coming off the 5 ways r/about in Birmingham, it's a dual carriageway, no pedestrian walkways or anything (I don't speed in built up areas). Got any ideas what I'll get - closest wins a bumper sticker!

Isn't 30mph over ANY speed limit a mandatory ban now?

Just to rub salt into the wound, I'd like to point out that I got away with my flash on the A361 in Devon. That was on the 18th October and ... NO TICKET. Hurrah !

Get a good solicitor...that's what I did and it kept me on the road!

 

I then drove around with 11 points on my license for years in fear of one more incident would get me banned anyway!

 

Managed it though, fuck knows how, I'm the worst for munching big time but not in built-ups!!!!!!! Never!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I didn't make it clear - The camera was working I got the letter through the door yesterday. It states (Speed 86mph) EXCESS SPEED (40 MPH) headed NOTICE OF INTENDED PROSECUTION.

 

So basically I am f**ked!!

My bro had the same thing. Technically, if you do double the speed limit anywhere it is usually a ban for x amount of time plus a nice hefty fine and points.

See if you can use the self incrimination against Human Rights thing that so many other people have been using to fuck...fuck...fuck the police!

You will get a summons because any prosecution where the intended result is a ban has to be done through court. Make sure you have a solictor, who specialises in this stuff on your side.

I got pulled on the M40 by Warwickshire police earlier this year. 112.4mph in a 70mph zone.Result was 56 day ban, £300 fine, but no points.Had to reapply for my license though!

The Court Usher reckoned they were letting me off lightly!

West Midlands and Warwicks courts are having a purge on speeding motorists at the moment...so expect a ban and/or hefty fine !

Did the Gatso take a rear-view picture or from the front? If rear, then you need a very good solicitor to try to see what you can get down to. If front then you can argue that it is an invasion of your civil liberties and privacy and take it to the ECHR if it comes to that.

On the topic of speeding/bans/fines - I went back to my old house a while ago and found 2 speeding notifications waiting for me - one was past it's 28 days reply time, so I handed them both to the cops. I've just received the payment form for the offence which was within 28 days, but nothing about the overdue one.

Anyone got any idea what my fate could be?

Gatso's that work in Birmingham City Centre?

 

LMAO........nope they don't only the odd on on the Hagley Road (a lot further down from Five Ways) and the rest are just for show I got stung about 5 days afte buying the Z and nothing, a guy I know who plays in the same footy team as me, well his mate is in the Fuzz (I have never met him) and he reckons that most of the gatso's in the City Centre are Duff (no offence Andy ) and the ones that do work as mentioned are on the Hagley Road but further down from Five Ways.

 

Coventry Road....75% of Gatso's work, I have this on good authority (friends with with speeding fines!) dropped the speed to 40mph too for the cones on the grass verge!! (no road works!) but it is a 60mph road and I have looked in my mirrors to see loads of people caught out, the sign for 40mph is about 30-40yrds then it's a gatso!
