Says it all really. You wanna "pretend" to drive. If you guys think shifting a stick is tough and skillfull, maybe you should take up something like flower arranging, much more your kind of pace Manuals, been there, mastered that.......

Most Z's were made with Auto boxes for home market in Japan, reason being that most Japanese men are so short that they can't leach crutch pedal! LMAO

I drove an auto for 3 years and converted it to a manual.

Need I say more.

 

20% power loss through the torque convertor and wider gear ratios just don't cut the mustard for me.

The general concensus is:...

300ZX MANUAL...0-60mph 5.5-6.0 secs=Porsche territory

300ZX AUTOMATIC.....0-60mph 7.0-8.0 secs=Mondeo/Vectra territory

If that was true, that BMW 540i (manual, spec 6.2s to 60) should have caned me..

Well, just to add my bit, I have owned both an Auto and a Manual and have found them to be two totally different cars in character.

The auto is more for cruisin' on a Sunday with the chick whereas the manual is for razzing the arse off it at every opportunity.

Having said that the auto is a fast car and in some circumstances can be quicker than the manual, i.e, some arsehole tries to overtake at the wrong time, stamp on the throttle, instant change down and your gone, whereas with a manual you have to fanny about changing down.

But if you asked me to decide I would defo go for the manual, it's a much better driving experience all round.
