ive had this for a while, started a fair while and miles after an oil change (129k km), but had been happening before the change anyway, was recommended using some fuel injector stuff as it sounded like this and not the hydrualic lifters, so bought some of that STP engine treatment stuff for 13 quid from halfords, now the noise seems to have got worse!

 

anyone got any ideas? it stopped for a while after the last oil change, could something be being starved of oil hence the noise? why would it get worse after this stuff though?

sounds like your oil is to thick, and that STP treatment is even thicker if it's the stuff I'm thinking about, what oil grade are you using?

10/40 is the one to go for or in cold weather a 5/40 IMO

i think im using mobil 1, i have a feeling its 10/40, so maybe a 5/40?
