NZR : Who's your service provider and how much do you pay ?

What internet serivce provider do you use and how do you rate them ?

I currently have 2 x 600kb connections into my house. Ntl want me to change this to 1 connection and share for both PC's as apparently it's causing problems.

So I'm thinking it's time to switch.

You guys got any suggestions ?

I know people will slate me for this, but............

I use AOL, and have had no problems with the broadband connection since I had it put in last year (other then three filters have gone faulty  ) I'm on a 512 connection, and it only costs me £19.95 per month (that's because I'm an existing customer, and was offered it at that price )

I've never had many problems with AOL since I've been with them, about two years now. I had dial-up problems, but then I'm not alone on that one, talking to people on the net you soon discover that most people have dial-up problems ;)

Yep Pipex or Nildram (who are now funnily enough owned by Pipex ;) )

I used to be with Nildram when I was in Cirencester & I have to say I f***** regret switching to NTL when I moved to Swinedon.

When I was with Nildram I had to call once for a support call, answered right away, and it was primarily the fault of my Netgear router, the Tech support had a colleague who had the same issues and had a workaround, put me on to him - Sorted.

Now NTL, I have been on to them countless f***** times to be told 'you dont have any problems' and I'd be like 'I BEG TO FKN DIFFER' after waiting in a two hour queue

Next time I'm back to Nildram/Pipex :)

(I was previously with them for two years btw)

I'm using Wanadoo 1MB (6GB limit) - no probs and a decent wireless kit as well!!!

(have used Freeserve for years on Dial Up with no problems at all, hence using Wanadoo for Broadband)

Repeat after me - AOL are Evil, AOL are Evil .....

I use W20, but that's because my choice is kinda limited to, er, W20. However, on the upside I have a wireless 512Kb SDSL connection with no upward rate limiting !

Yup, ask any engineer you'll get Pipex as the answer 90% of the time. (Only if the engineer is any good though ;) )

or works for Pipex ;)

Pipex 1mb connection here too. No limit.

£ 33.99

Works flawlessly. Fast and Reliable.

Telewest Broadband(Cable) Blue Yonder... it also has some numbers  It seems quick at responding but have nothing to compare it with, this is only my second month at this fookin tech lark.

Oh yes £17.99/month unlimited but I think thats just for the 1st year.

force9 £14.99 per month 1mb i think, i don't know, I just followed the boxes, god only knows what I've got and cares to be honest

2Meg N3 NHSNet, free!!!!!! Gotta love home working!!!

on Pipex till the 10th feb (512k home user)

migrating to seriouslyinternet same price as pipex but a 2meg connection I think its about £23 per month

i could gloat about my free 1 gigabit connection kindly provided by the university but i wont ;) however at home we have adsl from http://www.f2s.com they seem excellent been with them for 2 years, 512k it was for 22.50/month, as far as i know its still the same.

this may be a daft question, just checking

when you pay £17.99 per month for broadband, or however much

do you still have to pay your line rental from bt as well ???

First, it's not a daft question :D

But yes you do have to pay your BT line rental (unless you use cable or some sort of sat up-link) :D

thanks for that m8

thought i was paying too much then

plusnet. Unlimited 512 Broadband for £19. Recommend someone to it and you get a discount on your payment for as long they subscribe. There are no limits on how many people take up the offer so you could end up paying even less.

64kbit ISDN....thats what you get for living in the sticks :headvswal: :headvswal: but will upgrade to ADSL when it frikkin gets here, which should be around june :hyper: Think i'll go with freenetname as i've been with them since '99 and they've yet to do me wrong

Pete
