How big a job is to fix/replace Brake Master Cylinder?

Hi I'm an ex 300 owner who is hoping to soon return to the fold, really liked my old 300.

I've been offered an import 300zx which has a faulty "Brake Master Cylinder". The car is in Japan and I'm not mechanically minded so I'm wondering how big a job is this to do on a manual 300 TT?

Any input appreciated.

cheers mot looks like i could be getting the car then, will let you know if it all goes through and take you up on the cylinder.

thx.

£280 !!!

cheers will buy second hand item or repair kit as soon as I know if my offer has been accepted (should be next mon 7th feb).

if so it will be my 3rd 300zx TT manual, my first one moved about 5 miles in 3 months lol i know zero about zx's and bought it cheap with known 'engine problems' thinking simple diy mechanics would solve hehehe!!! looked nice in red though.

second one (silver) i imported and regret selling it, sold to buy an impreza which was boring in comparison.

one i'm hopefully getting is black and looks well apart from brake cylinder problem.

i bought cheap with low comp thought it would be easy to fix ,thought wrong however parts are very cheap in the states i find some being upto 82% cheaper than over here[with discount] if the car only needs a master cylinder you,ll be very luky however i hope it turns out alright for you if you decide to go new from nissan i can get you 25% off all parts

cheers

Hi,

As Andy says, get a repair kit for £50, done mine a fewyears ago with no probs :)

Vijay

mot, i hope it is only the cylinder that's what the dealer has stated, i've not bought from him before but bought from other japanese used car dealers and up to now the descriptions have been fairly, if not entirely, accurate......but close enough!

vijay, is it a job that a relative beginner could do? i might just get it done for me as i will get the cambelt changed as soon as i have it (there's me talking like i have it already!).

found the thread with my old silver 300, one of the few cars i regret selling (i've had alot of sporty cars over the years).
