Ok a typical newbie question.....

If I fit an exhaust without a cat, will my car fail an MOT on emissions? Or are some cars exempt because they were manufactured before a certain year? My car was manufactured in 93.

The CAT requirement affects all cars built after 1991.

The car is unlikely to fail any emissions tests it was built for the Japanese market and will actually clean the air as it goes (that's what I tell those people who show any kind of concern for the planet!)

So would I fail the MOT for not having a cat regardless of emissions?

Sorry bud it effects all cars built early 1992 and if your car is built after this then the MOT centre will fail you if you do not have them fitted :( and as for it being a jap and cleaner..........:non:

I had to really talk the Mot tester round to get mine through with out Cats...
