Ohhhhhh ... and it was such a great day ... something was bound to go wrong.
And Oh boy did it go wrong!
Drove from Brum to London to have a tete-a-tete with the bastards that had recently fired me (long story but the nuts-and-bolts of it is that it was unfair dismissal). Lets just say that they were not too impressed with my threats of taking them to court - so next time we meet will be in court
That should have been my first clue that something was a mis ...
Got back into the car to drop someone off at the tube station and on the way there I'm thinking "What the hell is that scraping noise" ... Not too long after that thought passed my one remaining brain cell the water temp gauge starts to creep up .... Oh no!
Got my passenger out the door ASAP and took a quick peek under the car only to find that the rear splash guard (yes, the one Jeff and I spent hours on cold concrete floor on trying to reattach it to the chassis) was busted and scraping along the road! Obviously a bodged DIY job ... Couldn't get under the car (no ramps or axle stands) so got out my trusty stanley knife and cut the offending bugger off. That still left the overheating problem. I thought I had that sorted because it hadn't done it in months (plus it was perfect all the way down the M40 @ an average of 80mph). Decided to top up the radiator (didn't need much) and put some more antifreeze in the expansion tank and pray to Allah, in that order (note: I'm not exactly a religious man ...) Then went to meet Tim to swap my old rims & tyres for some cash. Top bloke - looking forward to meeting up again in the future.
The whole trip back-up a very busy M1 went without a hitch. I really don't get this overheating problem. Will have to keep an eye on that one.
Oh well, sorry for rambling on about my day but I've got noone else to share my sorrows with (the other half is at her mum's for the week )
