Does anyone know roughly how much Nelson will charge me to fit an aircon condenser and re-gas?

Dunno about the condensor, but they wont usually do a re-gas as they dont have the equipment, they out-source it somehere else.

Re-gas will cost about £80-120 once they've stuck their mark-up on it.

There are places that specialise in this sort of thing, but I'm not sure I'd let 'em near a Zed.

Well, the re-gas I can get for £60 from Beds Battery so I'll probably take it there. Am just checking really that Nissan, when they finally come back with a price, aren't having a laugh.

Which gas does it need in it again, now that R124 has vanished?

RS24 or R413a I believe (not 100% sure on the latter, but the former is the preferrable anyway)

And it's R12 that has vanished....

Ah, if I remember correctly we need to use the correct type of gas that was originally in the car - to use the newer type requires a modification to the system - the seals I think....Cant remember if its R12?

Could be wrong tho... Worth making sure tho.

The original gas is R12, yes. And unless you are in the military, anyone selling it to you is breaking the law (and it'll be old stock, since they can't buy it anymore)

RS24 is a mix gas, safe and specially formulated for R12 systems - it's also the latest such gas

R413a (I think is the code) is an older "safe for R12 systems" mixture

Ajay, you really are a "hot chick" girlie if you need cooling down in this weather...whoooo! biggrin.gif
