I want to refresh my Antifreeze..What's the proceedure!?..

...as I haven't a workshop manual.

On my previous car I used to drain the radiator off and replace with almost neat antifeeze. Can I do this on my Z32?(I checked the level of antifreeze, and it seems very low)

Can I get to the drain plug for the radiator very easily,or is it a job for the local garage?

Not sure if there's a drain plug but loosening a bottom hose works for me ! I've heard that it's not good to over-do the antifreeze. I'd suggest going for the antifreeze manufacturers recommended mixture.

Don't forget after doing it to run the engine with heating on full to help remove air.

On my 92 UK TT. The drain plug is on the right hand side. Mine has a clear plastic pipe coming off it. I had to give the plug some serious twisting to get anything out. When it coolant finally came out it was a pethetic dribble. I think your best bet is to undo the bottom hose on the left, be carefull can be a messy busines ;-)

Dunno what N/A recommendations are for antifreeze.

Obviously as Hairsy said, put your heater controls on full or your climate control on 40 degrees C when running through new coolant this should help clear any air locks.

Another Dave ;-)

If you want to get the fluid of the heater system too there's a trick to fool the heater system into opening up to the rest of the cooling system..

Turn the car on (you don't need to start it)

Hold down the Auto and Off buttons at the same time for 5 seconds. (The car will beep)

Press auto twice.

You'll then hear the heating system open up...

The display will appear as "30 set" and "33 amb".

Turn the ignition off after 10 seconds.

Then drain the radiator.

If you change your mind, pressing the off button clears the diag mode, pressing auto makes it cycle through other modes.

Have fun.

Make sure the Car is COLD! or you will hurt yourself Badly!!

Undo and remove the Radiator Filler Cap, LHS Top of radiator.

Undo and remove Radiator Drain Stop, Phillips RHS Top of radiator.

Underneath car Drain Pentcock (Plastic screwy type thing with Wing nut style fastner and small plastic pipe protruding) is LHS Bottom of radiator, Undo Carefully as they break quicker than you can say "Oh shit i just bust my Pentcock"

It will only come out at a dribble tho.

You can just undo the O Ring Clamp on the lower Radiator Hose ( the black pipe that goes across the bottom half of the Rad)

But make sure you have a pretty large Surface area Catch pan or a near by drain. You Will ALSO need to do this even if you drain most out of the water out via the drain plug as the water will still be in the pipe.

Reconnect the Pipes , close the pentcock.

Fill with the recommended Ratio of AF / Water

via the filler cap.

Think that just about covers it, Obviously jacking the front of the car up provides easier access to the Bottom of the rad,so take all safety precautions there.

Have fun !

i think 50/50 is a pretty good rule of thumb for mixture for most cars.

careful when you jack the front up, as you may not get all of the water out....

i seem to remember letting the car idle for a while without the rad cap on afterwards helps to get airlocks out of the system.
