just wondering if the turbos are any more accessable with the plenium off as im changin mine for a polished one and thinkin about upgrading the tubs but dont want to pull the engine if i dont have to.

The turbos are more accessabile with the plenum off, but I dont think you get get to them enough.

 

The only way I have heard of getting the turbos out with the engine in, is from under the car.

 

And I have not heard 1 person say that it is easier that way. I have heard the it is easier to pull the engine do the turbos and then put the engine back in.

I've noticed the only people who say its easier with the engine out are those who have taken their engine out a few times or do it for a living lol ;)

 

If you've never removed and refitted an engine before - I doubt its easier...

The drivers side is simply a PITA to get to. The ONLY way I'd recommend doing it in car would be to fit the turbos to the manifolds BEFORE fitting on the car - this is the only way you can ensure the turbo is mounted and torqued correctly. Also make sure all water and oil fittings are already on. The point is though, its actually QUICKER to pull the engine and replace them, so you can check out other stuff at the same time. Seeing a LOT of broken engine mounts at the moment so there's something you'd spot straight away for example....

okies engine out it is then wishfull thinkin i guess.done a few engines in the past but tbh this scares me a bit limited tackle n space :( and shes me daily driver n some how i cant see me havin it done in a weekend but at least i can do a few other bits at the same time :) tnx for the help
