Hi. Totally new to all this so looking for a bit of help. Very intrested in purchasing one of these Jap super cars but can't really deside if I should go for the Nissan Twin Turbo ( unmolested) or the Mit 3000 GTO  What say you!

a 300zx t/t would WHOOP a gto's ass mate !! they are too sluggish and who wants 4wd !! Seriously get a Zed mate!!!

I may be the only person on the form who has both, a facelift GTO Twin Turbo 4WD 4WS and a Mk4 Twin Turbo 300ZX. In simple terms the ZX has a better driving position but getting the power down and handling are better on the GTO.

Also side by side most people prefer the look of the GTO. But the 300ZX is better for summer with the TBar

Have a read of some reviews, the GTO is always badly criticised, while the zed gets highly praised. There are quite a few GTO and Zed comparison articles out there.

While its 4WD does offer more grip, its tested lap times are slower and it gets a lot of complaints about the whole driving experience.

Best bet is to go and view/test drive both though.

Good luck.

have only had experience driving the z but i actually prefer the look of it with or without a tbar compared to a gto. much rarer round my parts, stands out more at the lights ;)

You're not allowed to give impartial views on here, you will probably now be burned at the stake for suggesting that the GTO has any characteristic better than the 300.

I think you should come and take cover in the bombshelter with myself and a couple of other ex zed owners.

:D

i think the gto looks a bit overdone with all the vents. looks like a mk1 cornflake-packet mr2. interior isn't nearly as 'cockpitty' as the Z.

:D I've driven both the GTO & ZX only to find the GTO driving experience bland & un-involving compared to the ZX. I also know of a few owners who have had thier GTO in the garage being repaired more than on the road. The only thing you can guarantee with the GTO is it will cost an arm & a leg to get even simple repairs done. IMO the Zed is the more sensible option (if there is a sensible car of this calibre) If ya know what I mean. I looked at both & went Zed ways and am more than pleased I did.

i persnally think the zed looks loads better than a gto, the gto's look plasticky

I like both, not driven a GTO. When ever I see one on the road I do think "Nice"

You will have to get behind the wheel of both and see which suits your driving and gives you what your after more.

If you do go for the Zed, find one you like, then ask one of the nice chaps here from round your area to give you a hand to look the car over, A beer or two will normaly have members offering their help in their droves. Oh look I'm in Essex and can help :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: ;)

i have a jap spc 300zx and is the second one in space of year due to wrinting first one off within weeks, test drove many zeds and many gtos when i first decided to go jap but after all the test driving the zed won hands down and as for looks there is no contest and never was, the zed wins

A friend of mine has a gto, cant really compare power

because his is a n/a. Just don't like the way mitsubishi

have stuck/bolted alsorts of vents/louvres all over the

place, whats all that about then? Looks silly!

Whereas the zed is smooth from front to rear, one flowing

line, unbroken by 'stick on this that & the other'.

Spoils an otherwise nice car.....IMO...obviously!

I do like the Mistubishi.

I've heard they're as bit more prone to going wrong / being expensive to fix than the 300.

And they're heavier than the 300.

well it looks like you got your answer, my friend has a gto even though he insists his is better it does not stop him always asking to have a go in my 300 tt

I had the same decision to make before I bought my ZX.

I like the look of both, although the GTO is more "fussy" with all the vents etc. Best looking GTO is the late spec, fixed headlights model (followed by the UK spec pop-up light model - I don't like the front end of the J-spec).

I drove both too, the GTO is quick of the line owing to 4wd grip but once past 30 the ZX is ahead. The GOT suffered from too much turbo lag for my liking - proved in a magazing comparision as the ZX was way way faster in the mid-range overtaking speeds. ZX was quicker to 100 too (14.4 compared to 16.1).

The GTO's problem there was weight - it's 1800+kg but the ZX is around 1500.

All in all I prefered the whole driving experience of the ZX, punchier performance and rwd fun. The ZX has cleaner lines which have aged better too

Drive both and make your choice.

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Guys. Many thanks for all your comments. I think your right the 300zx is the cooler model by some way so I guess I've, well you'v made my mind up. Must be having a mid life crisis. Does any one know of any good sites to look @ apart from this one or if it is advisable to import bearing in mind I know diddley squat.
