I have never fitted the coated ones I always wondered how long the coating would actually last ??? should be no different from fitting normal pistons as they only treat the skirts and the crown

it just looks like a primer coating, spoke to me dad about it he said the only one he has heard of is teflon coating which is basically to reduce the friction too! on the Z1 site it says add $200 for this coating but I paid the price for a standard set. I am going to fit them cant see there being a problem, to be honest even if it flakes off theres not a thick enough wall covering to worry about it effecting a bore clearance tolerance.

Wiseco are a very good make of piston. They make mostly bike and powerboat pistions, which are probably under a lot more stress than the Z will give it.

Did you get the set with out the coating. When I got mine from them the coating was free.

Stuart

I got them with the coating mate, my dad is a motobike mechanic and he will only fit wiseco, I cant see Z1 selling this if there is a prob to be honest
