Hi again :)

Just a quick question on the seatbelts in a jap import...

Are they *supposed* to slacked off slightly while the engine is running?

Both the driver and passanger seatbelts dont *pull* slightly while the engine is running in my car.

They will retract, but slowly and with less force than say the belts in a Ford.

When the engine is turned off tho, the belts tighten up again like normal.

I'm not sure if its a design feature or some problem, but its a tad disconcerting!

(if its by design, is there a wire that can be disconnected etc to stop it?)

once again, thanks in advance for any help!

i have noticed in my swb that the belts tighten and lock automatically when you brake hard, never used to happen in my old zed, maybe worth seeing if yours do the same?

Yep this happeneds in my import aswell. I find that as you pull off from a corner, because you've leaned forward the belt will slacken, so once you move off it feel very loose on you. I either just flick the catch so that it un-hooks the belt, hence it retracts a little, then refasten it straight away, or pull on the belt about two inches, but let it go back quickley, this fast action seem to do the trick.

Now wait untill somone opens the door while you've still got the belt on ;)

yep.. that's what I've been doing at the moment (2 inch forward then let retract.)

I'll try the brake hard routine later today once i've got it back from the alarm shop...

I've also experienced the door opening malarky already... very..... interesting ;)

I'm planning to take the door cards off this weekend to do a bit od re-uphulstering so I'll poke around and see if I can find anything of interest...

it sound like your belt tensioner in the door is giving out do a search this is quite common...need replacing in older zeds...just getting both mine done...zedworld do spares for these if you need them replaced...HTH

mine doesnt work at all - when leaving the car i need to pull the belt downward from the door side.

ive also experienced the additional 'anti-hijack' capabilities of the door-mounted seatbelts

i would have thought that was the case, but why would it differ when the car is running or not?

The belt works perfectly every single time when the car is off, yet when running, if you lean forward, it slacks off...
