Feeling quite proud today as 'our' plane has been unveiled in Toulouse. Worked very hard on the wings for this here near Chester for the last 2 1/2 years and it's nice to see it in the flesh at last (although I did have a wonder inside one a few weeks before Xmas). It weighs 560 tons at take off!

There are plenty of big projects coming along at Airbus mate so in all seriousness I think there will be lots of opportunity in the industry when you finish. Tip....get to know composite materials well. ;)

Just sat my exam on composite material on Monday. Went quite well. :)

Cheers for the tip mate, ill have to get my application in pretty soon.

Thats deffo an impressive peice of kit. I'm always in awe of planes whenever we go to an airport - they're so massive! Makes you wonder how they ever get off the ground. It must be the willpower of all the passengers thinking to themselves "come on! get up there!"

Worked atTrent lane in Castle Donnington for Fields, manufacturing Reveal`s, PSU`s etc for Jetstream`s, and then moved to the Diamond hangar at Stansted for FLS, doing "D" checks on 747, 200`S.

Contract was for Air China, British Airways.

Worked in the Composite shop for 4 years at Stansted, covering wet lay-up and most pre-preg, Heat-con etc. Radome repair was my favourite.

Fibrelam is the *****x !! :D Covered the balancing of flaps also.

Here comes the ashamed bit !

Also worked at Rumblows, manufacturing galleys, toilets etc.

Also Lola, making 1 piece racing car chassis.

Kevlar is the most amazing material. Yeah you probably guessed, I was a "Contractor" Qualitair, Interlord etc !!

Composites are the big thing in the future, you are correct there.

Well done on the A380. A major achievement !!
