Hi all i am looking to purchase a new exhaust system for my uk spec. 2+2 tt300 i have been looking at the mongoose system etc anyone have any ideas etc on performance noise & what is the best ones to look at cheers.

The mongoose seems to be a popular choice, but imo are

a little bit on the small side (tailpipes). Sound good though

with good quality welds etc....

Try some of the traders on here for any pics/alternatives/prices. :)

I'm impressed with my Powerflow system. Custom built on your car, so it fits perfectly. You can choose from a massive range of tailpipes, they make it sound as quiet or as loud as you like, and a cat-back system only cost me £400 (price does vary a bit from centre to centre).

Don't know what performance improvements are like, wasn't really bothered TBH, I was just after look and sound. The welding isn't immaculate but it does its job, sounds ace, and it's solid (doesn't catch/scrape anywhere).

I don't know much about them, but "Blast" advertise in Japanese Performance.

 

They specialise in Japanese car exhaust systems and claim to do a stainless system for the ZX for £300.

 

They are in Birmingham (could be the problem :rolleyes: ) on 0121 522 2022.

 

No website details but they say they are open 7 days.

 

I kept the ad as my stock system will probably need replacing this year......

 

If anyone has dealt with them, I'm sure they will post it.

I sell Mongoose exhaust systems and can vouch for their quality, sound and performance. There are currently two tip designs available (1) the "stock looking" twin 3" rolled tips and (2) the new 6" x 4" oval (one tip either side of the car). I can do either system for £510 delivered and they are currently in stock.

 

Both systems have a very nice low sounding rumble at idle (deeper than the stock system) which turns very "throaty" at full chat. I'm sure there are quite a few guys on here who are willing to testify to the great sound these systems produce.

 

Please keep DTA-Motorsport in mind when considering ordering your exhaust system.

Mongoose on mine, EXTREMELY good quality, nice sound that isn't too overpowering, I'd like to keep the same note but have it slightly louder but that is what decat pipes are for i guess

Hi Pete,

 

The system is cat-back only. However, I can get you a set of decat pipes and downpipes if you so require. What year is your Zed as it is officially not legal to remove the cats on a 1992+ car.

Hi dan looks like i have decided to go for the cat back mongoose system at some point as i went out to visit ryan aka ztech on tuesday & had a good chat with him about the things that needed doing & saw & heard the mongoose system very nice!!!! but not sure about going to 2 single pipes or keep to the twins either side as i want to keep the car reasonably standard at the moment but we shall see!!!!

Excellent choice Pete! Like I said, I can get you either the new 6" x 4" oval tipped system or the regular "stock looking" twin 3" tipped system. Price is the same either way.

I have to say one thing about the mongoose (I have it too) mines decatted and sounds ace when I open the Z up, burbles along nicely at low revs, and is totally well mannered on a long cruise on the motorway (take it from me an overly loud exhaust can get very irritating when doing long miles)

I noticed that too, and it looked just like the Mongoose...is it fair to say that they are probably identical exhausts ?
