Is Optimax working? maybe it is!!!

hey guys, after 2 fill ups of optimax I was wondering if any improvement would actually kick in.

Well since I started using Optimax I noticed a better fuel-economy-consumption, I haven't got figures of pounds/litrs, but it is using a little bit less petrol than usual which will surely compensate for the higher cost of the petrol itself.

But that was it...was it?

NO maybe there is more!!

Well since yesterday morning my car 300ZXTT Manual 90'.... started to drive better at low speed, you know local driving in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear, short acceleratinos etcs...it just feels a little bit smoother/slightly quicker I would say...

So it could be that the optimax has started to take effect... maybe it started cleaning the dirt located where the optimax goes through...etc..

Well unless my car is experiencing the LAST BREATH BEFORE DEATH....(I hope not)....it looks like Optimax is working!!!

  • 1 month later...

I went to Option Motorsport on Sat, they were saying that Optimax makes the car run much hotter than expected, not as good as Super. It's as if Shell told me a load of B*ll*x and it's not 98 octane... Does anyone have an EGT sensor fitted or know the truth here?

im not convinced of that to be honest, because it has made quite a difference to my car, im sure of that, i get better consumption, better performance, can they prove that?

and on what basis do they say that?

I do mostly short journeys and I have noticed little or no difference. Definitely not enough extra mpg to pay the additional cost. Therefore, I buy cheap unleaded most of the time. Next time I do a long journey I'll try the good stuff though.

Optimax is 72.9p here now, not much difference in price from Unleaded at 79p

I run super unleaded all the time, and at shell its 74 p optimax, and for bp around the corner super is like 82 p so it even pays me to get optimax biggrin.gif

The evidence they have is an EGt sensor he was running in a car on different fuels. If I EVER get my turbos fitted I will get an EGT sesnor at the same time.
