what will a Zed rev to normally?

And then if you fit:

Eagle Forged Con Rods SR20DET & Forged Pistons?

Featured Replies

rev limiter is set at 7200 IIRC, most chips take this up to 7500rpm

simon (51x) had his engine rebuilt with a rev limiter at a bonkers 8500 rpm

ther was one in the states that i saw that was alledgedly balanced for around 12-13000 rpm i believe (or dont believe! :D)

Its the balance which will effect the revs most. And also the valve springs may need to be upgraded so they close quicker.

Stock is 6800, I ususually set it to 7200 with stock injectors, run mine to 7500 with 555's. Hydraulic lifters on most engines are marginal at ~8000

but you are past the peak power then anyway, so there is no real point in doing so.

unless youve got big blowers which may very well be producing power well above that.

It's nice to have it out the way anyway, incase you need to hang in the revs mid bend abd don't want to back off. Also, the Z one is a 2cyl at a time cut, so every time you hit it you bore wash 2 then 4 cyls for a few revs

Whats the point of having turbos on which will only produce the required pressure when you are nearly 20% over the recomended red line?

no, what i was saying was that they will boost into & over the red line. if you look at dyno printouts for big turbos, the power figure will quite often still be rising well past 7000 rpm.

& if your fitting bloody great blowers @ 20 odd psi, well thats hardly recommended by the Nissan rule book either is it?!? upping the rev limiter is another way of increasing power (or giving you a better use of your power band)
