Hey!

Just bought a 1992 300ZX N/A Auto as my first Jap Car, have had a Hyundai Coupe 2.0SE and a TVR Chimaera 4.5 for the last couple of years. I really want to get into the whole engine and performance aspect of owning this car.

I got a few ideas of the guys at Ultimate Jap Car Cllub, Chopper advised me to come along and see if anyone else had any suggestions on what to start with for an initial jump into things.

Also, I live in North Yorkshire, can anyone recommend garages or places that fit decently mods to cars, I'm fairly close to the Teeside area of the country!

Cheers for your help

Jon

buy a TT :D

seriously, N/A tuning is obviously more limited than the TT,if you do want to go down this route then i would suggest:

induction, exhaust, decat (hi back pressure fans ;)), chip (have a word with Jock) for starters.

next could be lightweight flywheel & underdrive pulley.

exhaust manifolds are pricey but apparently a useful mod on a NA

NOS if you want to get serious!

Hi mate

welcome to the world of Zeds - I'm just down the road from you in Ripon - if ever you're passing or fancy a trip out give us a shout. I have a 91 SWB, manual NA which I use every day. It's been de-catted and I'm looking at putting on an after market induction kit and getting a re-mapped ECU as well. These are jobs 91 and 92 on the list of things to do!!!!!!

Regards

Cheers Guys,

Think the first place I will start is with the induction kit, I fitted one to my Hyundai Coupe and the difference was pretty good, mainly the noise. The the chip, I'm still trying to find the best place for that as yet!

Don't suppose you're in the forces are you Apache?

Cheers

Hi Jon,

If you're contemplating an induction kit then give me a shout. I sell the A'PEXi PowerFlow induction kits which are generally considered the best in the industry (best filtration and flow-thru). They're up for £100 + £5 p/p and I've got only one left in stock at the moment (more on the way). As for the chip - can do you a DTA-Motorsport N/A chip for about £65 plus £5 p/p. Although not widely advertised (yet), our chips have achieved some impressive results - including a record setting 1/4 mile run up in Scotland and various power achievements in the US. I'll be marketing these chips more prominently in a couple of weeks so stay tuned ;)

Cheers!

I'll tell you more about the chip when I've got the final specs for the N/A. The car that set the record up in Scotland is/was a member on here some time ago and it was featured in a magazine (can't remember which one but I think it may have been Redline ...) I'll dig up the details and post later when I'm home ...

Cheers Danny. Keep me posted when when the Na chips are ready.

Oh, they're ready Scott - I've just not got the specifics to hand. I'll get those ASAP and let you know mate! BTW - I think the record setting 1/4 mile run was done in a TT with minor mods.

If its just a chip, its just a case of removing the ECU and opening it. Remove the standard chip and solder a cradle in its place. Then just pop the new chip in. :) Should be easy enough if you can solder. If not, i got mine done at a video repair shop for £3.

Think I will get someone else to do it for me!! I'll stick to the less important things on the car!!
