i need a new front pipe and have decided togo down the path of the de-cat  .some on the market are just de-cat pipe's but some are sold with down pipe's aswell. looking a pic's of the down pipe's they have one end with four bolt holes and one end with three bolt hole's. can anyone turn on the lights for me as to the working's of these. thanks

The pipes I bought were simply called de-cat pipes. It was the whole pipe from the manifold to the middle box. However people also refer to de-cat pipes as the small section which replaces the actual cat. Simple rule bud, go for the long one

Down pipes are the pipes between the turbos and the decat pipes ;) Chances are the ones you've been looking at are whats known as 'divorced wastegate' downpipes - the flow of gasses from the exhaust turbine is kept away from the wastegate gasses for as long as possible to avoid turbulence.... ending up in more torque and power.

thanks andy that makes it clearer to me. so to fit the wastegate pipe's is it an engine out job or just the plenum, if it's that at all. and can these be fit with standard turbo's or are upgraded one's needed. thanks graeme

Andy ive just won a set of these on ebay as my exhaust has gone just behind the cats.

They should be ariveing tomorrow.Ive borrowed my mates garage for the evening with 2 poster ramps compressor etc.

Firstly what are they like to fit?

What time should it take?

And can i fit the decat pipes to the original downpipes if i get stuck?

Thanks

Steve.

I got a set of Megan Racing 'divorced wastegate' dowpipes and decats from the States recently, and got Jeff (Zedworld) to fit them for me (good job Jeff;)) - BUT the dowpipes are a different length to the originals, so you can't just fit the decats, it's all or nothing I'm afraid :).

LOL your gonna have lots of fun taking the downpipes off ;) :p , you will need to get these off due to the design off the down pipes and decats you have bought , you will not just be able to fit the decats on there own as there the wrong length

Ryan
