I just bought a set of 3 Gauges to fit into the DIN slot in centre console. Oil Pressure, Oil Temp and volts.

But been thinking, is it better to have Oil temp or Water temp ?

I presumed Oil temp as its actually engine oil temp that tells you when engine has reached correct working temp ?, and I already have the stock (but crap) water temp gauge...

but everyone else seems to go for aftermarket water temp gauges ?

MY opinion m8 but swap the volt gauge for a water temp gauge

need the Volts one, as I have a big ICE and in-car computer install

i would have thought water temp instead of oil temp.

LMAO, just buy one of those 3-guage A-Pillar pods and be done with it, then just find some more guages to go in.

Thats the best way to keep an eye on everything, although you probably spend too much time looking at all the gauges to see where your going!!! :D

A couple of years ago, in one of the car mags, there was a pretty slick thing done to a beemer I believe.

They mounted the dash clocks (speedo etc) somewhere behind the dash, and had a video camera pointing at it.

This displayed the clocks on a TFT screen fitted in the original dash space....

(I think it was done for looks only, no practical reason)

You could get all 4 dials (oil temp and pressure, water temp, and volts) and do the same.....

You could somehow get it setup so that if any of the readings went to a dangerous level, it overrid what was showing on the TFT and diaplayed that with a warning maybe......

not easy, but you dont like easy do you!! LOL

Just my overcomplicated outlook on it mate!!

An aftermarket WATER TEMP gauge is the way to go.

I absolutely second this. How many cars have I seen (during ConZult checks) with the water temp approaching boiling point and the stock gauge comfortably pointing at the mid-way point as if nothing ... Stock temp gauge is CRAP! (as is the oil pressure sender).

Water gauge - i have learnt the hard way in the past - over heated and dash water gauge was at the middle
