ones that are leaking :) sory couldnt resist.

there are a couple down there that are prone just around the back of the engine and they drip onto the ehaust. but to be honest your going to need a torch and an extra pair of hands and run the engine till you can trace it.

are the pipes ur talking bout at the side of the block or to the rear

could be eitheirthe tubby pipes,or one of the ones off the plenum.

The leaks can be very deceptive as alot of the time it will un down the pipe and dripp from somewhere completly different from where the leak is.

I should know ive spent hours and close on a grand trying to sort all my leaks and after a new rad, plenum water bypass and every remaining hose being replaced my problems are finally sorted.

Problem is that the cooling system carries quite a pressre and leaks will tend to always start from the weakest link, and if youve got the factory coolant hoses still on the car quite a few of them will be very soft and sponge like. Thus when you replace one, the next one will go. This is what i had, i did the rad and the tubby hoses started to leak, got that done and the plenum pipes started leaking, got that done and the matrix ones went.

Good luck mate, sorry if ive scared you with my tale of woe!!!!

Whats all this bout a plenum water by pass....How due do that then...and why have the pipes there if ya don't need them? Please explain

Right, best thing to do is get a mate to sit in the car with another mate under the car and you looking down and when the car it running at preassure check to see if you can see, cos you sure wont hear the leak.

But as burk ;) pointed out. When you replace one of the pipes it tends to break anouther somewhere else. So might want to think about doing them all and have done with it. Its not common to get water leakes, but it is common that when one does sprout you fix it and it moves somewhere else.

a lot of water leaks become more evident when the pump isn't pushing water past them, IE with pressure buildup and engine off.

So get the car up to tempreture and turn off engine and have a look around. it's how I diagnosed my water pump leak and a few other leaky pipes on other cars.

Mike is right - you cant get the engine hot enough with idling - the fan is too good. You'd have to fill it right up with water take it a good run at 70 ish or up a good hill to load it up, park up switch off and wait. The heat soak will bring a pressure rise and a few minutes after switch off the tiny crack in the hose will open up and dump some water on the hot turbo or exhaust then you get steam. Ive got exactly the same leak and I am leaving it till it gets a little warmer before I fix it. and keeping a close eye on the water - it hardly loses any and only gets steam rarely. After you switch off squeeze the top hose - it should begin to harden (sounds iffy this:)) as the pressure rises - if it doesnt rise then the leak is too big and leaking all the time not just under high pressure.

Another leak, good job it's not a boat :D .I hope you fit bathroom better than pick your cars. You will have to get your pride and joy back off the wife
